Florida Recruiting Notebook: Top prospects at this weekend's DRSportz 7v7

DAVENPORT, FLORIDA – There were numerous top seven-on-seven programs that came to Davenport, Fla. to compete in the DRSportz tournament this past weekend, and the top recruits came as well.

Here’s what top prospects had to say about their recruitments.

Luke Kromenhoek, QB, Savannah (Ga.) Benedictine Military School / Team Dimes / 2024 FSU commitment

Kromenhoek made it clear that he was locked in with Florida State and head coach Mike Norvell.

“Every time I’m around him, he just brings the energy,” Kromenhoek said of his future college head coach.

Kromenhoek is one of the nation’s top signal callers and looked the part in Davenport, showing off his arm talent several times including the following pass:

Camdon Frier, WR, Lake City (Fla.) Columbia / Team Dimes / 2024 FSU commitment

Excellent athlete and route runner that found a way to get open no matter the type of coverage. He decided on the Seminoles because, in Frier’s own words, “The way they recruited me.”

He had offers from Alabama, Mississippi State, and many other programs, but he’s headed to Tallahassee.

Terrance Moore, WR, Tampa (Fla.) Catholic / Slimey Boyz / 2024

When it came to offers during last fall, Moore was one of the fastest risers in the country. He earned overtures from the likes of Alabama, Notre Dame, Florida, Miami, and Penn State among others.

As for what’s coming up for Moore, he mentioned he’s going to try and get to LSU, Ohio State and Tennessee for unofficial visits. He has not narrowed down a timeline for a decision.

Jerrick Gibson, RB, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy / Prime Truth / 2024

Although a natural running back at 5-foot-11 and now 207 pounds, Gibson’s hands and route running were on display in Davenport. He was already considered a five-star recruit, and nothing changed with his performance.

With that talent, colleges from across the country have been coming after him hard. While he’s no place near ready to make a college choice the five schools Gibson mentioned were Oklahoma (unofficially visiting in March), Florida, Ohio State, Texas, and Tennessee.

Samarian Robinson, LB, Tallahassee (Fla.) Lincoln / TightAction / 2024

The recent UCF commitment has burst onto the recruiting scene after adding roughly 30 pounds to his frame during the past year. He was a primary target of UCF linebacker coach and former NFL star Ernie Sims III.

Despite Robinson offering the news that he’s very happy with UCF and eventually playing for Sims, seeing this young man’s frame combined with how he moved made it obvious that he’s going to be hearing from many more schools moving forward.

Jaime Ffrench, WR, Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin / Burch Sports / 2025

In contention for five-star status when his time comes, Ffrench was explosive as ever this past weekend. He excelled at wide receiver, as well as a free safety. Much like Gibson, he has a tremendous offer list from across the country. His next planned unofficial visit will be to Alabama (March 4).

Joshua Porter, WR, Fort Meade (Fla.) High School / OneWay / 2024

One of the best route runners in the country, Porter received his first offer from Deion Sanders and Colorado on Jan. 20. He plays at a small high school or Porter would likely have many more offers. He was all smiles about the recent offer and went back to work during the tournament.

DJ Pickett, S/CB, Zephyrhills (Fla.) High School / Prime Truth - 2025

Arguably the nation’s top 2025 recruit, the rangy 6-3.5 and 175-pound Pickett was really good once again during the DRSportz tournament. He was rarely tested and made multiple pass breakups.

As for recruiting, he has just about every major offer there is despite having two more years of high school. He’s planning multiple visits up to the University of Georgia this spring, and he’s planning to get down to Miami to see Mario Cristobal and the Hurricanes as well.

He’s already visited many programs like Michigan, Ohio State, and Florida, just to name three. Pickett’s recruitment will be highly contested until he faxes in his letter of intent.

Additional Recruiting Notes:

Recent Clemson commitment Tavoy Feagin from Tampa (Fla.) Carrollwood Day School and Prime Truth admitted that he’s happy with his choice to be a Tiger. He committed back on Nov. 20, 2022.

A player that looked dominant for much of the tournament, wide receiver Shamar Rigby from St. Petersburg (Fla.) Lakewood and RI5E Sports, will likely see his recruitment take off based on how well he played during the two-day event. He’s already earned Power 5 offers like Louisville and Duke. His 6-foot-5 and 180-pound frame was a mismatch against the majority of defensive backs.

Wide receiver Nico Weiss from Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian does not yet have any offers, but he was one of the most impressive pass catchers from the weekend. He played for Burch Sports. He will be seeing offers come his way sooner than later.
