Defenders brought their best efforts in Week 10 of the high school football season in Southwest Florida, making big plays to lead their teams to district titles.

Here are the nominees:

Juan Cuevas, Immokalee: His sack in the final minute pushed Gulf Coast out of field goal range, and the Indians won 13-10 to claim the district title.

Joe De La Nuez, Canterbury: Had a kickoff return TD to go with two rushing scores in a win over Sante Fe.

Kirtis Denham, North Fort Myers: Returned the opening kickoff 60 yards for a touchdown in a 42-0 route of Island Coast.

Kye Garcia, Dunbar: Scooped a fumble and ran 16 yards to the end zone in a win over South Fort Myers.

Daniel Lopez, Jr., Golden Gate: Finished with 11 tackles, an interception and a pass breakup as the Titans beat Lely 38-7.

Kelvin Jimenez, Mariner: Tallied 10 tackles, five tackles for loss, four sacks and a pass breakup in a win over Cape Coral.

Korben Parish, Naples: Totaled a team-high 12 tackles and forced a fumble in a 41-7 win over Bonita Springs.

Jordan Rizzo, Evangelical Christian: His 80-yard kickoff return TD helped the Sentinels beat Southwest Florida Christian and clinch a district title.

Leroy Roker, Bishop Verot: Had an interception and a fumble recovery in a shutout win in the 2S-District 16 championship game.

Reese Van Gemert, Barron Collier: Led the Cougars’ D with seven tackles, three tackles for loss and a sack in a 34-7 win over St. Brendan.
