The guard is considered the quarterback of the basketball team. Everything flows from the guard spot, including dribbling, passing, scoring and more.

In Central Florida, there have been no shortage of great floor leaders this season, especially in Orange County. We took a look at large- and small-class teams, and private schools in the area’s biggest county and came up with 22 nominees for best boys’ basketball guard in Orange County.

We ask you, the fan, to decide who is the best boys’ basketball guard in Orange County. Voting will conclude on a February 29th at 11:59 p.m.

Here are the nominees:

Brandon Bass, Jr., Windermere Prep: Sensational sophomore is averaging 20.8 points and 5.0 rebounds as a shooting guard. His efforts have helped the Lakers to an 18-7 record.

Jamier Jones, Oak Ridge (Orlando): The junior has shined for one of the nation’s best teams, averaging 20 points, 3.2 assists and 9.1 rebounds per game for the Pioneers, who are off to a blistering 21-3 start.

Jalen Reece, Oak Ridge (Orlando): Talented 11th-grader and son of head coach Steven Reece, he is averaging 16.3 points, 7.8 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 3.6 steals per game for one of the best backcourts in Florida.

Maylon Marte, Downey Christian (Orlando): Only a junior, the 6-foot-4 shooting guard/forward is averaging 19.6 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. He has helped the Patriots march to an 18-7 record.

Cheo James, Boone (Orlando): Scrappy senior combo guard and team captain is averaging 19.3 points, 3.2 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game. He regularly finishes as the Braves’ top scorer.

Cameron Codio, Bishop Moore (Orlando): Senior point guard has been consistent all season for the private school, averaging 18.7 points, 3.4 assists and 6.3 rebounds per game, with 48 three-pointers.

Adonys Christo, Horizon (Winter Garden): Senior combo guard is averaging 17.6 points, 2.9 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game, with at least 40 three-pointers, for the Hawks.

Jayden Lebron, Cornerstone Charter Academy (Belle Isle): Senior combo guard is averaging 18.6 points, 2.9 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game, with 39 three-pointers.

Lorenzo DeJesus, The First Academy (Orlando): Talented senior is averaging 17.2 points, 2.8 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game for one of the best private school programs in Central Florida.

Max Simmons, The First Academy (Orlando): One of the area’s deadliest shooters, the sophomore has hit a staggering 68 three-pointers and is averaging 14.3 points per game. He also averages 2.2 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game for the Royals.

Ameer Ramadan, Orlando Christian Prep: The senior point guard has been nothing short of magnificent for the state power Warriors, banging home 54 three-pointers and averaging 15.5 points per game. He also averages 3.6 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game.

Jacob Osborne, Foundation Academy (Winter Garden): The senior guard/forward has been one of the most unselfish players in the area, dishing out a whopping 107 assists. He also averages 13.4 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.

Samuel Shoptaw, Windermere Prep: Junior point guard has been a terrific backcourt weapon, dishing out an incredible 148 assists, thus far. He also averages 9.5 points, 5.9 assists and 6.8 rebounds per game for the Lakers.

Ethan Adams, University High (Orlando): A versatile weapon, the senior combo guard has tallied 126 assists and 116 steals for the Cougars, who are off to a spectacular 19-5 start. He is averaging 8.1 points, 5.3 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game.

Brock D’Alessandro, Bridge to Independence (Orlando): Talented junior has dished out a whopping 153 assists and 73 steals for the Wildcats. He is averaging 10.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, 7.7 assists and 3.7 assists per game.

Deontae Givens-West, Elite Prep Academy (Orlando): The 6-1 senior is one of the top defensive players in the area, averaging 4.8 steals per game. He also averages 11.8 points, 5.4 assists and 5.6 rebounds per game.

Kason Beezer, Cypress Creek (Orlando): Talented sophomore has already drilled 59 3-pointers while averaging 11.8 points per game for the Bears.

Donovan Williams, Edgewater (Orlando): The future is bright for this sophomore star, who is averaging 16.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.3 steals for the Eagles.

Zion Mitchell, Edgewater (Orlando): Senior is part of a strong backcourt, averaging 13.0 points, 3.0 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game.

Kaiden White, Olympia (Orlando): The 6-4 senior combo guard is playing well for the Titans, averaging 12.6 points, 4.0 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game. Olympia is off to an 18-7 start.

RJ Ingram, Lake Highland Prep (Orlando): Tough sophomore combo guard is among the team’s top shooters, leading the Highlanders to a 21-3 record.

Arosco "Tre" DuBois, Evans (Orlando): Junior is having a strong season for the Trojans, averaging 17.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. He made a school record nine 3-pointers in one game and has 63 on the season.
