Vote: Who should be SBLive’s Central Florida Baseball Player of the Week (2/28/2024)?

We’ve selected 20 candidates for your voting consideration

Central Florida high school baseball players were a big hit in the season’s first few weeks, especially last week.

We looked at teams from multiple counties and nominated 20 athletes for the SBLive Central Florida Baseball Player of the Week for Feb. 19-24, 2024.

We ask you, the fan, to decide who should the top player selected. Voting will conclude on Sunday, March 3, at 11:59pm and will be announced in next week’s poll.

Editor’s note: Our corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. The poll is specifically for fans to vote on the players that have been nominated and in no way discredits any other player that may not be mentioned in our poll.

Here are this week's nominees:

Erick Martinez, Third Baseman/Shorstop, The First Academy (Orlando): Junior went 2-for-3 with a double to spark the Royals past Winter Springs, 2-0.

Zack Hopper, Pitcher/First Baseman, The First Academy (Orlando): Senior right-hander threw five shutout innings, striking out seven and allowing just two hits and a walk, in a win against Winter Springs.

Josh Hoeckendorf, Pitcher/Outfielder, Winter Park: Senior went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI in a 7-4 loss to Loganville, Ga.

Gabe DeCardenas, Third Baseman/Catcher/Pitcher, Timber Creek (Orlando): Versatile senior went a combined 3-for-5 with three doubles, one run scored and one RBI in leading the Wolves past Upson-Lee, Ga., 10-0, and Denmark, Ga., 2-1, in the GDC Tournament.

Landon McDowell, Pitcher, Timber Creek (Orlando): Senior right-hander struck out eight in four innings to pick up a pair of wins in the GDC Tournament.

Jonathan Bosque, Shortstop, Foundation Academy (Winter Garden): Star senior went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with three doubles, four runs scored and one RBI to propel the Lions past Edgewater (Orlando), 14-4.

Gary Blake Alderman, Utility, Edgewater: Sophomore went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI for the Eagles in a loss to Foundation Academy.

Ethan Rathmann, Centerfielder, Olympia (Orlando): Super sophomore went 3-for-4 with a double, one run scored and one RBI in a 5-4 win against Hagerty (Oviedo).

Jason Perez, Catcher/Pitcher/Outfielder, Oak Ridge (Orlando): Freshman went 2-for-3 with a walk, three runs scored and two RBI to lead the Pioneers past Central Florida Christian, 8-5.

Collin Lock, Utility/Pitcher, Boone (Orlando): The Florida Gulf Coast commit and junior went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs scored and four RBI to propel the Braves past Liberty (Kissimmee), 18-0.

Izaiah Santiago, First Baseman/Outfielder/Pitcher, Harmony: Senior went 3-for-4 with two RBI to lead the Longhorns past St. Cloud, 12-5.

Richaun Amaro, Utility, Deltona Trinity Christian: Junior went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI in a 7-2 win against Taylor (Pierson).

Thad Reudelhuber, Utility/Pitcher, The Geneva School (Casselberry): Went 2-for-3 with one run scored and one RBI to lead the Knights past Calvary Chapel Academy, 9-8.

Alex Climo, Outfielder/Pitcher, Orangewood Christian (Maitland): Fantastic freshman allowed just one earned run in four innings while striking out four in a 5-4 win against The Master’s Academy (Oviedo).

Lorenzo Rodriguez-Pozo, Outfielder, Lake Nona (Orlando): Senior went 2-for-3 with one run scored and one RBI to lead the Lions past Haines City, 10-0.

Luke Helms, Pitcher, Horizon (Winter Garden): Struck out nine and walked just two while giving up one hit in three innings to lead the Hawks past Mount Dora, 5-2.

Marco Gonzalez, Infielder/Pitcher, Oviedo: Senior went 2-for-3 with a double, home run, two runs scored and two RBI to push the Lions past Apopka, 8-6.

Brady Roberts, Right fielder/Designated Hitter, Apopka: Senior went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored in a loss to Oviedo.

Jordan Livingston, Pitcher/Utility, Mount Dora Christian: Sophomore pitched a two-hitter through 4 2/3 innings, striking out four and allowing just one run in a 13-1 victory against Windermere.

Isaac Padilla, Pitcher/Infielder, Lake Brantley: Star senior and South Carolina Upstate commit went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI to lead the Patriots past Mount Dora Christian, 5-2, in the Big Blue Bonanza Tournament championship game.
