Vote: Who is the South Suncoast Baseball Player of the Week (3/6/2024)?

The Florida High School Baseball season is in full swing and we begin our Player of the Week polls for areas all around the state. Teams have started off the regular season with some great individual performances.

As such, we have eight athletes nominated this week for the SBLive’s South Suncoast’s Florida high school baseball player of the week award from February 26-March 2, and we ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. Voting will conclude on Sunday, March 10th at 11:59 p.m. The winner will be announced in next week's poll.

Editor’s note: Our corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. This poll is specifically for fans to vote on the players that have been nominated and in no way discredits any other player that may not be mentioned in our poll.

Here are the nominees: 

Wesley Anderson, Parrish Community: The sophomore pitcher had a solid outing in a 9-2 win over Lemon Bay. Anderson went five innings, allowed one hit, one run and fanned five batters. 

Cooper Middleton, Inspiration Academy: Middleton went off in the Lions’ 16-0 win over Reborn Christian Academy, going 4-for-4 with six runs driven in. 

Brett Balais, Bradenton Christian: The senior was running the bases hard last week in the Panthers’ 19-5 win over Southeast. Balais had two triples and three runs driven in. 

Yampier Lorenzo, Bayshore: The senior pitcher looked great against Sarasota Booker, with Lorenzo pitching just over four innings, allowed three hits and striking nine batters. 

Bradyn Williams, Charlotte: In a combined effort with Dominic Giglio, Williams helped shut out Cypress Lake 7-0 and pitched four innings, three hits and four strikeouts. 

Matt McGuire, IMG Academy Navy: The junior had a big night in the Ascenders’ 14-13 win over Inspiration Academy Red. McGuire drove in five runs, two hits, including a triple. 

Morgan Peggs, Sarasota Riverview: Peggs, a junior pitcher, led the Rams into the win column after a good performance against Braden River. The pitcher went four innings, allowed three hits, two runs and fanned seven batters. 

Nic Dunn, Venice: Dunn led the way in the Indians’ 9-2 win over Jesuit last week. He belted a home run and drove in four RBIs.
