Vote: Who is the South Florida Softball Player of the Week (3/18/2024)?
The Florida High School Softball season is in full swing and we begin our Player of the Week polls for areas all around the state. Teams have started off the regular season with some great individual performances.
As such, we have 10 athletes nominated this week for the SBLive’s South Florida high school softball player of the week award from March 11-March 16, and we ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. Voting will conclude on Sunday, March 24th at 11:59 p.m. The winner will be announced in next week's poll.

Editor’s note: Our corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. This poll is specifically for fans to vote on the players that have been nominated and in no way discredits any other player that may not be mentioned in our poll.
Here are the nominees:
Kayla Lopez, Homestead: Lopez went 3-for-4 with four runs driven in and three doubles in the Broncos’ 18-1 win over TERRA Environmental last week.
Aubrey Alonso, Coral Reef: The senior hurler pitched five strong innings, allowing just one hit and striking out three in a 13-0 win over Miami Palmetto.
Gianna DeRiccio, Morningside Academy: Just an eighth grader, DeRiccio had herself a strong outing last week in a 16-1 win over Westwood. The eighth grader went three innings, allowing just two hits, one run and striking out four strikeouts.
Elena Ramirez, Monarch: Ramirez pitched a perfect game in the Knights’ 26-0 win over Deerfield Beach, going three innings and striking out nine.
Collin Ames, Miami Country Day: Ames did it all for the Spartans in a 10-0 win over Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart, going five innings, allowing just one hit and striking out nine.
Courtney Wahlbrink, Coral Springs Charter: The freshman pitcher was superb in the Panthers’ 12-0 win over Pompano Beach, going six innings, allowing no hits and striking out 12 batters.
Ali Solo, Western: The junior pitcher came up big in a 6-1 win over Somerset Academy, pitching six innings, yielding six hits, one earned run and fanning six batters.
Makayla Ortiz, John Carroll Catholic: The sophomore pitcher pitched a gem in an 11-0 win over Lincoln Park Academy, going five innings of one hit ball and striking out 11.
Gabrielle Espich, Vero Beach: Espich, a sophomore pitcher, led the Indians to a 16-3 win over Fort Pierce Central. The sophomore went the distance, allowing just seven hits and striking out eight.
Chloe Gilday, Key West: The Conchs are starting to get on a roll behind Gilday, the senior pitcher went seven innings, six strikeouts in a 16-3 win over Keys Gate.
