Vote: Who is the South Suncoast Baseball Player of the Week (3/19/2024)?

We have eight candidates for you to choose from

The Florida High School Baseball season is in full swing and we begin our Player of the Week polls for areas all around the state. Teams have started off the regular season with some great individual performances.

As such, we have eight athletes nominated this week for the SBLive’s South Suncoast Florida high school baseball player of the week award from March 11-March 16, and we ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. Voting will conclude on Sunday, March 24th at 11:59 p.m. The winner will be announced in next week's poll.

Congratulations to last week’s winner: Luke Verwey of Sarasota!

Editor’s note: Our corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. This poll is specifically for fans to vote on the players that have been nominated and in no way discredits any other player that may not be mentioned in our poll.

Here are the nominations:

Bobby Eidell, IMG Academy Royal: The junior pitcher led the charge in a 2-1 win over Martin County, pitching a complete game, yielding one run off three hits and striking out six batters.

Ben Scott, IMG Academy Navy: The senior’s bat came up big in a 17-1 win over Bayshore, driving in three runs off two hits.

Leo Marrero, Hardee: Hardee cruised by Okeechobee 13-1 last week, with Marrero driving in four runs on two hits, which included a home run.

Peyton Rassbach, Imagine School of North Port: The freshman pitcher went five innings, pitching a no hitter and striking out 11 batters in a 17-0 win over the Gulf Coast HEAT.

Jake Gregor, IMG Academy Gray: Another IMG Academy pitcher had a strong outing last week, with Gregor going the distance, allowing two hits, no runs and fanning eight in a 6-0 win over Bolles.

Jacob Connor, Lemon Bay: Connor went 3-for-4, scoring one run in the Manta Rays’ 6-0 win over Charlotte last week.

Alex Vailliancourt, Lakewood Ranch: The Mustangs’ pitcher pitched a complete game in his team’s 4-3 win over Palmetto. Vailliancourt went seven innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out six.

Nelson Morales, Sebring: Morales led the Blue Streaks to a 1-0 win over Sarasota Riverview by pitching just over five innings and yielding six hits, four strikeouts.
