Congratulations to Grossmont High School running back Robert Tucker for being voted our Southern California football player of the week!

Tucker, a junior, ran for 275 yards and three touchdowns and also added six catches for 116 yards and three more touchdowns in Grossmont's 52-28 win over Olympian on Sept. 13.

Tucker received 37.7% of the vote, beating out Helix RB Elelyon Noa who finished with 31.4%. Banning quarterback Jake Otto finished third with 14.2% of the vote.

Here are the other athletes who were nominated for Sept. 9-15:

Jake Otto, Banning QB: Otto threw three touchdown passes and ran for another in Banning's 42-7 victory over Westchester.

Josh Butler, Poway RB: In Friday night’s win over Escondido, Butler ran for 206 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 13.7 yards per carry.

Shane Illingworth, Norco QB: Illingworth threw for 567 yards and seven touchdowns in Norco's 49-28 win over Vista Murrieta.

Gary Bryant, Corona Centennial WR: Bryant had five touchdown catches and more than 200 yards receiving in Corona Centennial's 63-29 win over Liberty (Nevada).

Bryce Young, Mater Dei QB: Young rushed for 104 yards and four touchdowns and threw for 247 yards as Mater Dei routed St. Frances Academy 34-18.

Jake Garcia, Narbonne QB: Garcia threw four TD passes in less than three quarters in Narbonne's 38-0 win over Orange Lutheran. In the first half alone, he was 17-for-21 for 269 yards.

Jaden Casey, Calabasas QB: Casey threw for 265 yards and six touchdowns in the Coyotes' 46-35 win over La Habra.

Elelyon Noa, Helix RB: Noa ran for 116 yards and two touchdowns, while also catching five passes for 80 yards and another touchdown in Helix's 44-41 upset of Cathedral Catholic.

Sean Guyton, Notre Dame CB/WR: Guyton caught a 40-yard touchdown pass and returned an interception for a touchdown in the Knights’ 22-7 win over Paraclete.

Zedakiah Centers, Servite WR: Centers caught six passes for 204 yards and three touchdowns in Servite's 45-21 win over Cajon.
