Here are the candidates for the Scorebook Live Southern California football player of the week for Sept. 23-29, as nominated by fans, readers and Scorebook Live’s staff. Read through the nominees and cast your vote at the bottom of the page. Players from the Southern, LA City and San Diego Sections are considered. Voting will conclude on Thursday at 11:59 p.m and the winner will be announced Friday morning. Josh Henderson, Grace Brethren RB/LB: Henderson rushed for 273 yards and 5 touchdowns and added a 35-yard TD catch in Grace Brethren’s 49-35 win over Westlake. He also had 6 tackles, 6 assists and a sack on defense.

Jordan Jefferson, Rancho Verde RB: Jefferson ran for a career-high 194 yards and four touchdowns and also caught a 13-yard TD pass in Rancho Verde’s 63-35 win over Norco. 

Chad Johnson Jr., Cathedral WR: Johnson had eight catches for 132 yards in Cathedral's 13-7 loss to Serra Gardena.

Chris Parker, San Fernando WR: Parker had five receptions for 202 yards and two TDs, plus a 94-yard fumble recovery TD, in San Fernando’s 33-10 win over Reseda.

Josh Ward, San Pedro RB/LB: Ward had three touchdown runs and three fumble recoveries in San Pedro’s 49-13 win over Cleveland.

Malachi Lyles, Mayfair LB: Lyles had 10.5 tackles, 3 sacks and a fumble recovery for a touchdown in Mayfair’s 42-10 win over Gahr.

Marco Siderman, Westlake QB: Siderman set Westlake’s single-game record for passing yards, finishing 37-of-50 for 434 yards and 5 TDs in Westlake’s 49-35 loss to Grace Brethren.

Jaylen Hall, Granite Hills (El Cajon) WR: Hall, a freshman, had 2 receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown in Granite Hills’ 41-7 win over Southwest (El Centro). Hall’s TD came on a 77-yard catch and run.

Mason Graham, Servite DL: Graham, a sophomore, had three sacks in Servite’s 16-13 win over Notre Dame. Two of the sacks came on the final drive of the game to seal the victory. 

Michael Sandoval, Elsinore K: Sandoval kicked three field goals -- including the game-winner with 2.7 seconds left -- to lift Elsinore to a 44-42 victory over Banning.

Noah Cline, San Marcos DE: Cline had three sacks to help San Marcos shut out Mt. Carmel 35-0.

Steven Cristini, West Hills ATH: Cristini did a little bit of everything on Friday: he had 54 rushing yards, 23 receiving yards, 75 kick return yards, 23 punt return yards and returned an interception 100 yards for a touchdown in the Wolf Pack’s 24-14 victory over El Capitan.

Terran Pineda, Hilltop LB: Pineda, a senior, racked up 7 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery to help the Lancers beat Bonita Vista 28-21.

Tyler Buchner, Bishop’s School QB: Buchner was 13-of-18 for 338 yards and 4 touchdowns and also added 92 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground in a 53-13 win over Francis Parker.

Bryce Young, Mater Dei QB: A few days after committing to Alabama, Young gave Crimson Tide fans a glimpse of his talent, completing 26-of-37 passes for 416 yards and 5 TDs in Mater Dei’s 53-24 win over St. John’s (Washington D.C).

Elelyon Noa, Helix RB: Noa rushed for 276 yards and 4 touchdowns in Helix’s 42-17 win over Oaks Christian.
