Sherman Oaks Notre Dame’s 2020-21 high school football schedule includes away game vs. Servite
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the CIF has pushed back the California high school football season to January. Most sections are now scheduled to start practice in December and play games starting in early January.
As teams across the state finalize their 2020-21 football schedules, SBLive will take a closer look at the schedules and best matchups for California’s top programs.
Here’s an inside look at Sherman Oaks Notre Dame's 2021 schedule:
NOTRE DAME 2020-21 VARSITY FOOTBALL SCHEDULE
- Week 1 vs. West Ranch
- Week 2 vs. Valencia
- Week 3 at St Bonaventure
- Week 4 at Birmingham
- Week 5 at Servite
- Week 6 at Alemany
- Week 7 vs. Chaminade
- Week 8 vs. Garden Serrra
- Week 9 at Cathedral
- Week 10 vs. Bishop Amat
2019 RECORD: 6-5. Notre Dame went 2-3 in the Mission League and then fell to Vista Murrieta in the first round of the Division 2 Southern Section playoffs 24-21.
2021 SCHEDULE ANALYSIS: Four straight road games from Week 3 to Week 6 will be a challenge for Notre Dame and new head coach Joe McNab, but expect the Knights to be up for it. McNab spent 39 years as an assistant to former head coach Kevin Rooney, who retired a year ago. Notre Dame is in good hands.
After missing virtually the entire season a year ago with a torn meniscus, quarterback Cooper Meek is back for his senior year at Notre Dame. Look for the Knights to run a fast paced spread offense in 2021. Notre Dame should be competitive in every contest this season, similar to a year ago when the Knights only lost one game by more than two scores with Meek's backup, Zachary Siskowic, leading the team. Siskowic is now at Crespi.
CAN’T MISS CONTEST: Week 5 away against Servite. Last year when these two teams met, it was one of the regular season games of the year. The Friars eked out a 16-13 win over the Knights, thanks to a fourth quarter defensive stop.
Expect the 2021 showdown to be another classic.
TRAP GAME: Week 9 at Cathedral. Cathedral, 2021 Mission League newcomers, will be underdogs in every league game they play in 2021. Notre Dame can't get caught looking ahead to Bishop Amat when they take on the Phantoms. The fact that the Cathedral game is on the road makes it a little tougher for Notre Dame as well.
PREDICTION: 6-4
