Four-star wide receiver JJ Harrell announced his commitment to Tennessee on Monday.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Harrell attends North Panola High School in Sardis, Mississippi. He is the nation’s No. 18 overall wide receiver for the class of 2024 in the 247Sports composite rankings. Harrell is also the second-rated junior in the state of Mississippi behind five-star defensive lineman Kamarion Franklin.

Harrell chose the Volunteers over offers from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Penn State and Oregon, among others. He is Tennessee’s fifth commit for the class of 2024, joining four-star athletes Jonathan Echols and Marcus Goree Jr., four-star cornerback Kaleb Beasley and three-star defensive lineman Carson Gentle.

Tennessee went 11-2 last season — the program’s first 11-win season since 2001 — and defeated Clemson in the Orange Bowl. Head coach Josh Heupel is entering his third season with the Volunteers and is known for his high-flying offenses.
