OUTLOOK
It is safe to say the Bulldogs will go as far as Smelcer can carry them.
Smelcer will be a two-way workhorse. On offense, Hepler estimates his senior will get 85 percent of the touches among skill-position players, and the running back has planned accordingly in the offseason by packing on a few more pounds of bulk.
On defense, Smelcer will move between outside linebacker and strong safety, and is arguably the team's most reliable tackler.
If Ward can make enough plays, with his legs or arm, to keep the chains moving, this could be an intriguing sleeper full of versatile athletes.
