OUTLOOK
The Cardinals moved down to the second-tier division of the 2A SPSL, but appear to be one of the deepest and most experienced teams in the league this season with 27 returning seniors.
A lot on offense will depend on whether Quinland has a true breakout season. He struggled at times in 2018 after the team switched to a spread attack -- but Hanson has tweaked things since then to try to take advantage of his ability to throw on the run.
And the Cardinals added to their already-blazing attack by getting sprinter Christian Swain healthy. He should make a quick impact joining a wide-receiver corps that includes his brother, Aaron. Swain broke his leg in 2018 offseason workouts, and missed last season.
If Franklin Pierce wants to win this division, and set up a league-title showdown with the top-division champion, its line play has to be better. Hanson is high on this group, led by Real, Lawrence and newcomer T.J. Beechum.
