The Lincoln Hornets pulled off one of the biggest upsets in the state Friday night, knocking off No. 6 Cathedral Catholic 24-19. The Dons came into the game ranked in the Top 30 in multiple national rankings.

The win helped vault Lincoln (7-3) to the top of the San Diego Section Division I bracket where they given a No. 2 seed and a first-round playoff bye. The Hornets will host the winner of the Torrey Pines-Rancho Bernado first-round matchup on Nov. 15 at 7 p.m.

Cathedral Catholic (8-2) was given the No. 2 seed in the Open Division bracket and will play No. 3 Carlsbad on Nov. 15.
