Top stars, best performances from Week 11 (Nov. 4-6) in Texas high school football

From Stephenville QB Ryder Lambert (444 yards, 7 total TDs) to Mercedes WR Tyrell Trevino (280 yards, 5 total TDs), several players stood out with jaw-dropping performances across the state during Week 11 of the 2021 Texas high school football season. 

Here’s a look at the top individual performances around the Lone Star State for Nov. 4-6 during the final week of the regular season.

TOP STARS IN TEXAS HS FOOTBALL FOR NOV. 4-6:

PASSING STARS

Ashton Dubose, San Antonio Brennan QB

Dubose threw for 282 yards and four touchdowns on 15-of-22 passing in a 56-23 win against San Antonio Marshall to help Brennan win the District 29-6A title and finish the regular season undefeated. He also ran 11 times for 144 yards and three rushing touchdowns.

Cardel Williams, Spring Westfield QB

In Thursday’s game against Aldine Eisenhower, Williams was 11-of-16 passing for 259 yards and five touchdowns in a 63-14 win to help Westfield end the regular season unbeaten.

Keldric Luster, Frisco Liberty QB

Luster accounted for all of his team’s touchdowns by throwing for 303 yards and two TDs on 31-of-50 passing and running for 102 yards and two rushing scores on 26 carries in a 27-24 win over previously unbeaten Lucas Lovejoy to clinch a share of the District 7-5A DI title.

Cade Klubnik, Austin Westlake QB

In his return to action, Klubnik threw for 219 yards and three touchdowns on 11-of-15 passing in a 63-21 blowout win against rival Lake Travis to help Westlake secure the outright District 26-6A championship. He also ran for 31 yards and two rushing touchdowns on six carries.

Conner Weigman, Cypress Bridgeland QB

Weigman threw for 157 yards and four touchdowns on 14-of-20 passing and ran seven times for 88 yards in a 38-10 win against Cypress Falls.

Gage Roy, Dallas Jesuit QB

Friday’s game against Richardson saw Roy complete 11 of 14 passes for 187 yards and two TDs in a 40-6 victory.

Andrew Martinez, El Paso Eastwood QB

In Friday’s game against El Paso Americas, Martinez went 18-of-27 for 334 yards and six touchdowns in a 72-8 blowout victory. He also ran 12 times for 95 yards and two rushing scores.

Jackson Gilkey, Ennis QB

Gilkey was 19-of-22 passing for 306 yards and two touchdown passes in a 48-0 victory against Corsicana on Friday to help Ennis win the District 8-5A DII championship. He also ran for 26 yards and a rushing touchdown on five carries.

Braedyn Locke, Rockwall QB

Locke passed Arizona Cardinals and former Allen Eagles quarterback Kyler Murray for third in career passing yards in Class 6A Texas high school football history when he completed 16 of 24 passes for 332 yards and three TDs in a 49-13 win over North Mesquite on Friday. Locke scored a fourth touchdown on a 1-yard quarterback sneak.

Lawson Nairn, Millsap QB

Nairn went 21-of-28 for 315 yards and three passing TDs in a 40-33 victory over Jacksboro on Friday. He also ran for 35 yards and a rushing score on eight carries.

Luigi Christiano, Brownsville St. Joseph QB

Christian caught fire Friday and threw for 468 yards and seven touchdowns, both career highs, on 32-of-44 passing in a 49-48 win over Corpus Christi John Paul II.

Sam Battle, Waco Midway QB

In Friday’s road game against Mansfield Lake Ridge, Battle was 26-of-47 passing for 427 yards and five passing touchdowns in a 63-56 shootout loss.

Nash Rankin, Houston Stratford QB

Rankin threw for 207 yards and three TDs on 7-of-10 passing in a dominant 71-6 win over Houston Northbrook.

Bert Emmanuel Jr, Fort Bend Ridge Point QB

Emmanuel completed 14 of 15 pass attempts for 209 yards and two touchdown throws and ran for 81 yards and a rushing touchdown on 13 carries in a 52-26 victory against Mesquite Horn to help Ridge Point win the District 20-6A championship.

Nick Evers, Flower Mound QB

Evers was 21-of-28 passing for 227 yards and two touchdown throws in a 40-27 win over Coppell. He also ran 10 times for 145 yards and four rushing scores.

D’vonne Hmielewski, Sealy QB

Hmielewski threw for 217 yards and five TDs on 12-of-18 passing and ran for 52 yards and a rushing touchdown on seven carries in a 58-7 victory against Wharton in district play.

Jake Sock, Pearland QB

Sock threw for 251 yards and four touchdowns on 11-of-17 passing and ran for 26 yards on five carries in a 25-23 win over crosstown rival Pearland Dawson.

Xander Casarez, Harlingen South QB

Casarez accounted for all four of his team’s touchdowns when he went 17-of-24 for 174 yards and two passing TDs and ran four times for 20 yards and a pair of rushing scores in Harlingen South’s 29-10 road win over Los Fresnos on Friday to secure the District 32-6A title and finish the regular season as one of two remaining undefeated teams in the Rio Grande Valley.

Cheno Navarette, Monahans QB

Navarette threw for 241 yards and five touchdowns on 16-of-20 passing and also ran for 78 yards on 10 carries in a 60-38 win over Pecos.

Ryder Lambert, Stephenville QB

Lambert threw for 391 yards and six touchdowns on 13-of-17 passing in a 63-7 win against Brownwood to help Stephenville wrap up a perfect run through the regular season. He also ran for 53 yards and two rushing touchdowns on six carries.

Karson Kaiser, Boerne Champion QB

Kaiser completed 16 of 26 passes for 247 yards and six TDs in a 64-14 road victory against Lockhart. He also ran for 36 yards on four carries.

D’vonne Hmielewski, Sealy QB

Hmielewski threw for 243 yards and three touchdowns on 18-of-26 passing and also ran for 192 yards and two rushing TDs on 16 carries in a 43-0 win over La Marque.

RUSHING STARS

James Peoples, San Antonio Veterans RB

Peoples rushed for 119 yards and three TDs on 13 carries and caught two passes for 22 receiving yards in San Antonio Vets’ 42-21 district win over Kyle Lehman on Thursday.

Teshaun Singleton, Cibolo Steele RB

Singleton ran for 267 yards and two rushing scores on 28 carries in a 20-6 road against Smithson Valley to help clinch the District 27-6A championship for Steele.

Jacob Gonzalez, San Antonio Harlan RB

In a 42-20 district victory against San Antonio Warren, Gonzalez rushed 19 times for 116 yards and two touchdowns. He also scored on a 90-yard kickoff return.

Rodney Talton Jr, Arlington RB

Talton toted the ball 30 times for 228 yards and three rushing TDs in Arlington’s 51-20 victory over Arlington Bowie.

Ollie Gordon, Euless Trinity RB

Gordon ran 17 times for 125 yards and three rushing TDs in Trinity’s 49-8 victory over Fort Worth Paschal to break the school’s all-time career touchdowns record (69). He also caught a 22-yard touchdown pass.

Keyunte King, Garland RB

King rushed six times for 113 yards and three rushing TDs in a 70-14 win over South Garland on Friday to help Garland finish the regular season unbeaten.

Damyrion Phillips, Katy Paetoew RB

Phillips rushed for 230 yards and three TDs on 17 carries in a 52-17 victory over Angleton to help Paetow win a share of the District 10-5A DI title.

Rashon Estes, Jersey Village RB

Estes rushed for 93 yards and three touchdowns on nine carries in a 63-21 victory against Cypress Creek to help Jersey Village finish the regular season unbeaten for the first time since 1991. He also caught two passes for 72 yards and a touchdown and scored five straight TDs for the Falcons during the first half.

Joey Shaw, Mesquite Poteet RB

Shaw ran the ball eight times for 250 yards and three touchdowns and caught a 45-yard reception in a 41-16 win over Dallas Kimball.

Alonzo Hines, Alief Taylor RB

Hines ran 14 times for 136 yards and four TDs in a 56-27 win against Alvin on Friday night to help Taylor clinch a postseason berth in Class 6A.

Reuben Owens, El Campo RB

Owens carried the ball 15 times for 205 yards and five touchdowns in El Campo’s 63-42 win over Needville to clinch the District 12-4A DI title. He also completed a 19-yard pass and snagged two catches for 19 receiving yards.

Quinten Joyner, Manor RB

Joyner ran for a career-high 404 yards and four TDs on 26 carries in Manor’s 48-30 win over Cedar Park.

Jalen Washington, Montgomery RB

Washington rushed 27 times for 270 yards and five touchdowns on the ground in Montgomery’s 56-45 victory against rival Montgomery Lake Creek.

LJ Martin, Canutillo RB

Martin tallied 207 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries in a 43-34 win over Clint Horizon on Friday night.

Preston Alford, Dripping Springs RB

Alford rushed 22 times for 155 yards and four touchdowns and added four receptions for 24 yards in a 32-31 road victory over Seguin to secure the District 12-5A DI championship and complete the regular season with a perfect record intact.

Makhilyn Young, Midland Legacy RB

In a 35-21 victory against rival Odessa Permian, Young ran 26 times for 120 yards and three rushing TDs and caught five passes for 142 yards and a receiving touchdown.

Seth Davis, Katy RB

Davis carried the ball 20 times for 285 yards and four rushing touchdowns in a 67-17 win over Katy Taylor to help Katy finish the regular season unbeaten.

Tavorous Jones, El Paso Burges RB

Jones ran 11 times for 313 yards and three TDs in a 56-22 win against El Paso High on Friday night.

Ernest Davila, Poteet RB

Davila toted the ball 31 times for 364 yards and four rushing TDs in Poteet’s 40-23 victory over Randolph.

Marquise Collins, College Station RB

Collins ran for 236 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries in a 41-20 win over previously unbeaten Magnolia to help College Station stay undefeated and win the District 8-5A DI championship.

Colin Page, Austin Anderson RB

Page ran 26 times for 186 yards and four TDs in a 68-61 shootout win against Leander on Friday night.

Kaiden Roden, Quinlan Ford RB

In a 35-20 victory against Community to help Quinlan Ford finish the regular season unbeaten, Roden ran 19 times for 217 yards and three rushing scores.

RECEIVING STARS

Luke Vidal, League City Clear Falls WR

Vidal caught three passes for 141 yards and two TDs in a 44-0 win over Clute Brazoswood on Thursday.

Joaquin Gutierrez, San Antonio Warren WR

Gutierrez snagged six receptions for 160 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-20 loss to San Antonio Harlan.

RJ Maryland, Southlake Carroll WR

Maryland recorded nine receptions for 154 yards and two touchdowns in a 62-14 win against Keller Fossil Ridge on Thursday to help Southlake wrap up a perfect run through the regular season.

Dallas Dudley, Flower Mound Marcus WR

Dudley tallied eight catches for two touchdowns and receiving yards in a 47-13 win over Plano East.

Trey Cochran, Arlington Martin WR

Cochran caught three passes for 135 yards and a touchdown in a 61-0 win against Arlington Sam Houston.

Horace Bradshaw, South Oak Cliff WR

Bradshaw hauled in four passes for 151 yards and three touchdowns in a 71-0 victory over Dallas Jefferson.

Tyrell Trevino, Mercedes WR

Trevino caught eight passes for 200 yards and four receivings TDs, both season highs, in a 31-21 road win over Sharyland Pioneer to clinch a share of the District 16-5A DII title on Friday. He also ran a kickoff return back for an 80-yard special teams touchdown.

Cameron Price, Houston St. Thomas WR

Price caught two passes for 107 yards and a pair of touchdowns, scoring on 68- and 39-yard touchdown receptions, in a 45-0 win against Concordia Lutheran.

Troy Oliver, Leander Rouse WR

Oliver tallied six receptions for 91 yards and a receiving touchdown and also threw a 78-yard touchdown pass to give Rouse its first lead in a 31-24 comeback win over Brenham to claim the District 13-5A DII title for the second straight season. Kye Stone, Lewisville WR

Stone caught nine passes for a game-high 206 yards and two receiving touchdowns, including a game-winning Hail Mary touchdown reception, in a 37-35 win against Carrollton Hebron to help Lewisville capture the District 6-6A title.

Oliver Crawford, Richardson Pearce WR

Crawford snagged 16 passes for 206 yards and a touchdown in a 40-26 win over Irving MacArthur.

Haden Wernecke, Sealy WR

Wernecke hauled in seven catches for 115 yards and two receiving TDs in a shutout victory over La Marque.

Beau Sparks, El Paso Franklin WR

Sparks caught eight passes for 204 yards and three receiving touchdowns in a 35-13 win against El Paso Pebble Hills to help Franklin secure the District 1-6A championship.
