Pebblebrook wins rematch with Milton: Recapping Night 2 of the Georgia high school basketball quarterfinals

The Falcons go 2-0 this season against the Eagles, while the Lovejoy girls snap River Ridge's 21-game win streak to reach the final four.

Pebblebrook signaled early this season that it was a team to reckon with after beating Milton.

On Wednesday night, the Falcons did it again, knocking out the defending 7A champs and advancing to the final four against Berkmar.

Jaiun Simon scored 14 of his 17 points in the third quarter to lead the charge for Pebblebrook, ranked No. 21 in the national SBLive/Sports Illustrated Power 25.

Bruce Thornton scored a game-high 19 points for Milton in his last game as an Eagle before heading to Ohio State.

In another 7A heavyweight matchup, Newton knocked off Archer 57-49. The Rams will play Norcross in the final four Friday.

Class 6A

Sequoyah got past Kell in a thriller, prevailing 71-70 to advance to the final four against Buford, which beat Carrollton 62-54.

Preston Parker led Sequoyah with 28 points, and Peyton Marshall scored a team-high 24 for Kell.

Class 5A

Dylan Faulkner's 23 points and Peyton Law's 18 led Calhoun to a 66-56 win over Woodland-Stockbridge.

Calhoun advances to play Tri-Cities on Saturday in the final four.

Class 4A

McDonough's run of routs ended, but it's back in the final four anyway after beating Druid Hills 53-48.

Keenan Gray scored a game-high 15 points for McDonough, which will play Westover on Friday for a shot at the state championship game.

Class 3A

Cross Creek won its first state championship last season, and it's in the hunt for back-to-back titles after beating Groves 55-47.

Class A Public

In a battle between the only two undefeated teams in Georgia, Social Circle prevailed 88-77 over Calhoun County.

Girls basketball

Lovejoy ended River Ridge's 21-game winning streak with a dominant performance to advance to the 6A final four.

Sophomore Bryanna Preston had 26 points, seven assists and four steals, with 19 of her points coming in the fourth quarter to lead Lovejoy to a 71-59 win.

Lovejoy will face Rockdale County, which beat Brunswick on Tuesday, in the final four.

Also in 6A, Elle Blatchford's 26 points led Sequoyah to a 53-44 win over Bradwell Institute.

Class 5A

Yasmine Allen and Jayda Brown scored 14 points each to lead Forest Park past Loganville 52-40.

Sydney Bolden scored a game-high 18 points for Loganville.

Forest Park advances to play New Manchester in the final four Saturday at Fort Valley State.

Class 4A

Pickens stormed back from a 12-point fourth quarter deficit to stun Jefferson and advance to the final four Friday against Marist at Fort Valley State.

Class 2A

Northeast-Macon continued to breeze through its playoff competition with another blowout, beating Laney 85-52 to advance to the final four.

Northeast-Macon will face Rabun County on Friday.
