Over the next few weeks, we’ll be taking a look at some of the top track and field athletes in Georgia.

We started with the top sprinters in the boys division, then focused on girls sprinters, followed by the best distance runners in the boys division and girls division. Now we turn our attention to boys throwers.

There are hundreds of standout throwers in Georgia, and these lists are not intended to be comprehensive! Tag us on Twitter or Instagram at @SBLiveGA and let us know about other athletes worthy of fans’ attention.

Note: We'll also be posting lists of the state's top hurdlers and jumpers in the coming weeks. Many athletes excel in multiple events, but we won't do write-ups on the same athlete on multiple lists.

Seth Allen, New Manchester

Allen holds the third spot for farthest discus throw at 170’9 and is sixth in shot put at 50’4.5. These aren’t even his PRs, so he has more room to improve.

Darius Barge, Jeff Davis

Barge recently hit his PR in the shot put at 45’6, and he is one of the state’s best discus throwers with a season best of 156’10.

Piers Cameron, Pope

Cameron leads all throwers in the shot put, with a PR this year of 53’5. He is also second in the state in the discus with a throw of 170'10.

Brad Chosewood, Habersham Central

Chosewood is one of two sophomores who hold a top 10 spot in both the discus and shot put.

Jacere Cooper, Morgan County

Cooper took home bronze last year in the 3A state championships for shot put as a sophomore. He has already hit PRs in the shot and discus this year and is coming for gold.

Josh Dare, Creekside

Dare is a monster in the discus and shot put. He leads all throwers in discus with a PR of 178’2, more than 7 inches farther than the second-place throw. He is also second in the state in shot put at 52’4.5.

Emorrie Foskey, Winder-Barrow

Foskey is showing off his strength in his junior season, as he's fifth in the state in the shot put with a PR of 50’10.

Max Herman, Marietta

Herman is second all-time on the Marietta discus list and is in position to become No. 1 this season. He finished first in the 7A state championship in discus last season.

Tahir Hines, Allatoona

Hines competed in the 6A state championship last season as a freshman. He came in fifth with a throw of 148’9. Watch out for this thrower as he starts to climb the ranks as an underclassman.

Johnerio Holt, Athens Academy

Holt has the third-best shot put in the state at 51’7.5. His throws have steadily increased as the season has progressed.

James Jackson, Carver (Columbus)

Jackson holds the 10th spot among all discus throwers with a 153’9, which isn’t his PR, so watch for the senior to improve upon that this season.

Langston Jones, Brookwood

Jones is tied for sixth in the state in discus with a throw of 155’11. With the way the senior is improving, Brookwood’s record of 156’7 could soon fall.

Logan Montgomery, Ridgeland

Montgomery is the reigning 4A state champ in both the discus and shot put, and he did so by a sizable margin. The future Florida Gator will look to repeat as champion this season.

Phillips Moore, Westminster

Moore entered this season as the hunted because he took home gold last season in the 3A state championships in the discus and shot put.

William Muller, Roswell

Muller has yet to reach his PR from last season, but he still has the fourth-best shot in the state this season with a 51’6.5.

Dylan Robbins, Loganville

Robbins is the one of the two sophomores who hold a spot in the top 10 among throwers. He holds the ninth-farthest shot at 50’2.5.

Alex Shepard, South Gwinnett

Shepard recently hit his PR of 162’5 in the discus to elevate the senior up to fourth in the state.

Ethan Sinon, McEachern

Sinon holds McEachern's record in the discus and shot put. He is tied for sixth in the state in discus with a throw of 155'11.

Kelton Smith, Carver (Columbus)

Smith placed second in the shot put in last year’s 4A state championship as a sophomore. He will look to improve on his PR of 53’8.

Jake Thompson, Bremen

Thompson is the reigning 2A state champion in the discus. He looks poised to repeat, as he won last year’s meet by a wide margin.
