Over the past couple of weeks we've highlighted the top players nationwide in 2021-22 in volleyball, footballboys soccer and girls soccer — and a Georgia athlete made every list.

Vote now: Who was the Georgia high school boys multi-sport athlete of the year in 2021-22?

Now we're focusing on the Georgia athletes who starred in more than one sport. We started with the boys, and now it's the girls' turn.

Brianna Bassett, Gymnastics/Golf, Ola

The junior was very busy this spring, tying for 23rd in the Class 5A state golf tournament and qualifying as a finalist in floor exercises and uneven parallel bars in the state gymnastics meet after claiming the Henry County All-Around championship at gymnastics. Bassett pulled off a “triple crown” of sorts by being part of the Mustangs' competitive cheer team that qualified for the finals and eventually tied for sixth in the state championships last fall.

MaKyla Bell, Basketball/Track and Field/Softball, Montgomery County

The 5-foot-4 senior had a big 2021-22 school year on the basketball court and the track. She earned second-team All-State honors in hoops after averaging 16.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists and four steals as the starting point guard for the Eagles (25-3) on their way to the Class A Public state quarterfinals. Then in the spring, she was a state placer in 400-meter dash (fourth) and part of the state runner-up 400 relay team in the state track meet. In addition, Bell led the Montgomery County softball team with three home runs, a 1.389 OPS and 16 stolen bases, while also hitting .444 with nine RBIs and a .920 fielding percentage as the starting shortstop.

Marley Bell, Basketball/Track and Field/Softball, Montgomery County

The younger sister of MaKyla Bell also made her mark in three sports at Montgomery County. Alternating as the starter at shortstop and the pitching circle with her older sister, the 5-9 sophomore posted a team-best .459 average and 13 RBIs to go with two homers, 12 steals and a .913 fielding percentage on the softball field in the fall. In the winter, she was named first-team All-State in basketball after leading the Eagles in scoring (18.3 ppg), rebounding (13.1), steals (5.2) and blocked shots (2.3) and adding 3.2 assists per game. But her most impressive achievements may have been in track, where the younger Bell finished as state champ in the triple jump, 300-meter hurdles and 1,600 relay and as state runner-up high jump and sixth in long jump at the Class A Public state meet.

Halle Cannon, Softball/Soccer, Bainbridge

The senior made a big splash on two fields for Bainbridge in 2021-22. Cannon, who has signed to play college softball at College of Charleston, was selected for the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association Senior All-State game after a strong fall, and then posted an impressive 13-5 record with 10 shutouts and a 1.19 goals-against average as the starting goalkeeper for the Bearcats soccer team.

Lacey Carder, Flag Football/Soccer/Basketball, Hillgrove

The recent 2022 graduate made things happen as the starting quarterback for Hillgrove's Class 7A state championship flag football team last fall as the Hawks' leading passer (208-272-6, 1,921 yards, 34 TDs) and rusher (100-704, 9 TDs). Carder was also a contributor for the Hawks as a shooting guard in basketball and forward/midfielder in soccer.

Emily Digby, Softball/Basketball, Dacula

She is already committed to play college softball at Georgia. In addition. Digby earned honorable mention All-Region 8-6A for the region champion Falcons basketball team.

Lauren Dobbs, Lacrosse/Basketball/Flag Football, Mill Creek

The 5-4 recent graduate had her biggest success for her senior year in lacrosse by earning first-team All-County honors by the Gwinnett Daily Post and being named Midfield Player of the Year by the Gwinnett Lacrosse League coaches. A Kennesaw State signee, Dobbs finished with 34 goals, 16 assists, 17 groundballs, 55 draw controls and 12 caused turnovers to help the Hawks to the Area 1-6A/7A title. The 5-11 recent graduate was one of the most decorated basketball players not only in the state after earning 2022 Ms. Georgia Basketball honors, but in the nation, and will play collegiately at Georgia Tech after leading the Eagles to the Class A Private state title in March. However, Dunn was also a force on the court during the fall by leading the Mount Paran volleyball team in kills (342), hitting percentage (.388) and total blocks (107) to earn Region Player of the Year and first-team All-State honors and helping the Eagles to the Class A Private state championship.

Jordynn Dudley, Soccer/Basketball, Cambridge

The 5-11 junior made a big impact for the Cambridge girls soccer and basketball teams. On the court, she was named honorable mention All-State, first-team All Region 7-6A.

Mataya Gayle, Basketball/Track and Field, River Ridge

The 5-9 recent graduate had a big year, especially in basketball, where she was a first-team All-State selection, leading the Golden Hawks in scoring (18.4 ppg), steals (3.7) and blocked shots (1.4), and adding 6.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. She also placed eighth in the long jump at the Class 2A state track and field meet.

The 6-1 junior was an All-Region 8-7A and All-Gwinnett County selection for the Lions' softball and basketball teams that went to the second round of the Class 7A postseason in 2021-22. Softball is perhaps her best sport, as she was selected to the GACA Junior All-State Softball game and is already committed to play collegiately at Florida State after hitting .373 with nine home runs, 22 RBIs, six doubles, a triple, a 1.418 OPS, 18 stolen bases, 30 runs scored and a .958 fielding percentage. But she was also a force on the basketball court, averaging nearly a double-double at 11.1 points and 9.2 rebounds per game, along with two steals.

Janine Horst, Swimming/Track and Field, Westminster

The Westminster junior has been an excellent competitor in timed sports, particularly in swimming as part of Class 3A state championship teams in the 200-yard medley and 200 freestyle relay events, and also a state placer in the 100 free (fifth) and 100 breaststroke (seventh). Horst was also a Class 3A state placer in the high jump in track and field.

Marissa Miller, Softball/Basketball, North Gwinnett

The 5-10 senior had her biggest success on the softball field as a Senior All-Star selection and first-team All-Gwinnett County catcher. The Georgia signee hit .343 with a .420 on-base percentage, nine homers, 30 RBIs, eight doubles and 13 walks, and threw out seven would-be base stealers with a .996 fielding percentage for a Bulldogs team that won the Class 7A state championship. Miller also was a standout for the North Gwinnett basketball team, earning second-team All-Region 8-7A honors.

Jessie Parish, Basketball/Swimming/Softball, Hebron Christian

The 6-1 recent 2022 grad has been one of the more unique athletes in the state by being very busy each winter throughout her high school years. She concluded a distinguished career in the pool in February by placing fifth in the 100-yard backstroke and sixth in the 100 freestyle in the Class A Private state swimming championships. But it's on the basketball court where the Wofford signee has made the biggest impact as a first-team All-State post player, averaging 15.6 points, 8.2 rebounds, two assists, three steals and 1.6 blocked shots per game in helping the Lions to a Class A Private state runner-up finish. Parish supplemented those two accomplishments by starting at first base and earning second-team All-Gwinnett County honors in softball. She finished her senior season hitting .562 with three homers, 32 RBIs, six doubles, two triples and a 1.432 OPS.

Lauren Render, Flag Football/Lacrosse, Hillgrove

The senior was Carder's favorite receiver for the Hawks in their Class 7A state championship season last fall, snagging 65 receptions for 750 yards and 20 TDs, and adding 316 yards and two scores on 38 carries on the ground. She was also selected as Cobb County's Player of the Year in lacrosse by the Marietta Daily Journal in helping Hillgrove to the Class 6A/7A state quarterfinals in the spring. She also shared the MDJ's 2021-22 Girls Athlete of the Year honor with Dunn.

Hailee Swain, Volleyball/Basketball, Holy Innocents'

The 5-7 freshman made a big splash in her high school debut in helping two Holy Innocents' teams to the Class A Private semifinals in 2021-22. She was a first-team All-State selection in volleyball, leading the Golden Bears with 375 kills and adding 37 service aces, 10 total blocks and 286 digs. Then she stayed on the court in the winter as the Golden Bears' starting point guard, and was named honorable mention All-State in basketball. Despite having just completed her freshman year of high school, she is already verbally committed to play basketball at Stanford.

Zy Thompson, Track and Field/Basketball, Griffin

The 5-11 junior had a big spring for the Griffin track and field team by winning the Class 5A state high jump championship with a winning leap of 5-6. She was also a second-team All-State selection for the Bears' girls basketball team that won the Region 2-5A title and went to the second round of the state tournament. Thompson averaged 12.9 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.

Katie Ward, Softball/Basketball, Pope

The recent 2022 grad completed a decorated softball career last fall by being named Class 6A first-team All-State as an infielder after leading the Greyhounds to a third-place finish in the state tournament by hitting .454 with 12 homers and 53 RBIs. She is signed to play college softball at North Georgia. She then went on to earn second-team All-Region 6-6A as a member of the Greyhounds' girls basketball team.

Imani Washington, Track and Field/Softball, Wesleyan

The recent 2022 graduate showed plenty of power throughout her senior year for the Wolves, culminating by pulling off two individual state titles in the Class A Private state track and field championship by winning the discus (134-8) and shot put (PR 45-11.45). That performance earned her the Gwinnett Daily Post's 2022 Field Athlete of the Year honor. She was also state champ in the shot put and runner-up in the discus last year. She also was named honorable mention All-Area 4-A Private for Wesleyan's state championship softball team. Washington used to play basketball for the Wolves, but gave up that sport after her junior season to concentrate on track and field, which she will continue her career in at the University of Florida in the fall.
