Congratulations to Valdosta head coach Shelton Felton, the winner of SBLive Georgia's Coach of Week award as voted by Georgia high school sports fans.

Felton captured 94.09% of the state-wide after Valdosta snapped a 5-game losing streak to cross-town rival Lowndes and did it with great defense. Felton’s squad held Lowndes to just six points and with the win, improved to 7-0 on the season.

Here are all the other coaches that were nominated for Oct. 3-Oct. 8:

Pete Fominaya, Hiram: In one of the biggest upsets of Week 8, the Hiram football team took down Calhoun 44-34 Friday night for the first time in program history. Led by head coach Pete Fominaya, the Hornets scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to help secure the win.

Shane Queen, North Cobb: The Warriors scored their biggest win of the 2022 season Friday night when they traveled to Walton and dominated them 33-6. Head coach Shane Queen watched his defense shut down one of the best offenses in the state to open region play with a victory.

Kevin Reach, Monroe Area: Snake bit for much of the 2022 season, Monroe Area got back on track in a big way Friday night by taking down undefeated Hebron Christian on the road, 41-7. The purple Hurricanes are led by veteran head coach Kevin Reach and used a great rushing attack and great team defense to hand the Lions their first loss of the season.

Caleb Carmean, Kennesaw Mountain: One of the most underrated teams in Class 7A, Kennesaw Mountain improved to 6-0 on the season Friday night with a 49-0 blowout of Osborne. The Mustangs are led by head coach Caleb Carmean and are currently tied atop Region 5 with North Cobb and Wheeler.
