This week's Top 10 baseball games to watch in Georgia (Feb. 27-March 4)

Here are 10 games worth your attention this week on the baseball diamond

Here is our weekly run down of the Top 10 games to watch this week in Georgia High School Baseball:

10. Hiram (3-0) @ Kennesaw Mountain (6-2) Tuesday 5:55 p.m.

Hiram will travel to Kennesaw to take on the Mustangs and this should be an exciting match-up. Hiram has some of the hottest bats right now, driving in 34 runs in three games and 17 in its last match-up versus Osborne.

Kennesaw Mountain was unable to put any runs on the board in its last outing versus Cartersville and will hope to turn things around versus Hiram, which shouldn’t be hard with four games of ten or more runs scored, including 17 runs versus Troup County.

9. Brookwood (4-1) @ South Forsyth (5-3) Thursday 6 p.m.

Brookwood has gotten off to a great start. Players like Clinton Harris and John Beverley have been great for the Broncos, both with averages over .380 and driving in multiple runs. Charlie Foster has been the ace thus far with a 0 ERA and 11 strikeouts through six innings. South Forsyth is looking to make it three wins in a row after taking down top-ranked Loganville, 7-0.

8. Parkview (2-1) @ Ariton (AL) (0-0) Thursday 7 p.m.

Parkview and Ariton will participate in the Perfect Game Showdown in Hoover, Alabama. Parkview is coming off a loss to Jesuit (FL) in which it couldn’t get much going offensively and the Panthers will look to get the bats going in this tournament. Ariton will be in its first action of the season after four straight 20+ win seasons.

7. Buford (2-2) @ Oxford (AL) (1-0) Thursday 7 p.m.

Buford is coming off a big time win over Woodstock to get its revenge from the season opener. The Wolves will use that and try to make a streak out of it with a win over Oxford. These two will match up in the Perfect Game High School Showdown in Hoover Alabama. Oxford is one of the top high school programs in Alabama with back-to-back 27+ win seasons and multiple D1 commits.

6. Roswell (6-0) @ Blessed Trinity (8-1) Tuesday 6 p.m.

This is one of the more fascinating region games this week, with both teams on fire to start the season. Roswell has been dominating thus far, hence its record. The team has just played great all-around ball. Multiple starting pitchers have gone multiple shutout innings with great relief pitching on the back end and the bats are hot, averaging seven runs per game.

Blessed Trinity is right there talent wise and its play on the field is matching the talent. The Titans have won eight straight games including wins against Savannah Christian, Alexander, Alpharetta, Marist and Grayson. This will be a three-game series with Roswell having two games at home.

5. Allatoona (4-2) vs. Woodstock (5-3) Tuesday 5:55 p.m.

Woodstock and Allatoona will face off in a three-game series with two of the three games being played at Woodstock. This is the first action for these two teams, facing off against each other.

Woodstock is the reigning 7A State Champions and will now look to win another crown in 6A. Allatoona will look to turn things around after two tough losses in a row, including an extra inning loss to Coffee and then giving up 11 runs to Walker.

4. North Paulding (6-0) @ Denmark (6-3) Wednesday 6 p.m.

North Paulding will travel to Alpharetta to face off against Denmark. Denmark’s three-game streak was just snapped at the hands of McEachern and now it looks to get the wins rolling back again. North Paulding is looking to extend its win streak to seven straight. The Wolfpack have dominated every game so far, having scored 72 runs while only allowing 24. North Paulding has yet to score less than 10 runs in a game this season, but will have its hands full with Denmark’s pitching staff.

3. North Oconee (5-0) @ Cherokee Bluff (5-0) Wednesday 5:55 p.m.

The lone undefeated match-up of the week is a must watch. North Oconee is 5-0, which extends its win streak from last year. It has now won 41 games in a row. The Titans are on the highest mountain top and don’t look like they are coming down anytime soon. If Cherokee Bluff isn’t a household name, then trust me it is about to be. The Bears are undefeated and averaging 10 runs per game and not just against any old opponents. During this streak Cherokee Bluff has defeated West Forsyth, North Atlanta, Grayson and Denmark.

2. Houston County (6-0) vs. Helena (1-0) Thursday 4:30 p.m.

Houston County will face off against Helena in the Perfect Game High School Showdown. Houston County has picked up where it left off last season. The Bears are averaging over 11 runs per game and have wins against Lowndes, Marist and Perry. Helena is coming of a big-time win over Hewiit-Trussville with a final score of 15-6.

1. Pope (6-1) vs. Lassiter (5-2) Tuesday 6 p.m.

Pope and Lassiter will square off in their first series of the year. The reigning 6A State Champion Greyhounds will host two of the games in a three-game series. Pope has won six in a row heading into this match-up and the bats have been blazing hot.

Lassiter is on a three-game win streak in which it has scored 35 runs and allowed 0. These two teams split the season series last year, so it will be interesting to see how the region rivals fair this year.
