Let’s take a closer look at some of the top returning quarterbacks in high school football for the 2023 season in South Georgia.

Our list includes some of the best in the country and players who look to be the top up-and-coming signal callers throughout southern parts of the Peach State in 2023. We compiled 13 names of quarterbacks who figure to be among the best in South Georgia.

Plenty of worthy names are on this list, so be sure to vote in our poll for who you think will be the top returning signal caller for the upcoming season. Voting will close on August 31st, just in time for the start of the regular season.

Editor’s note: Our corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. This poll is specifically for fans to vote on the players that have been nominated and in no way discredits any other player that may not be mentioned in our poll.

Luke Kromenhoek, Benedictine: As a junior, Kromenhoek lit up the airwaves with his passing numbers for the Cadets. The signal caller had 2,576 yards and 24 touchdowns to just three picks. Kromenhoek committed to Florida State back in March.

Kameron Davis, Dougherty: Davis is a Florida State commitment as well and figures to play running back at the next level, but in the mean time is a pretty good quarterback for Dougherty. Last season, Davis threw for 2,736 yards and touchdowns and rushed for 1,115 and 13 scores.

Neko Fann, Colquitt County: Last season for the 13-1 Packers, Fann had himself a strong junior campaign under center. He returns with aspirations of leading Colquitt County back to a state championship. Fann in 2022 threw for 2,645 yards and 30 touchdowns and just five interceptions.

Carlos Keverene Singleton Jr., Liberty County: The Panthers were able to go 7-5 in Class 3A behind the play of Singleton Jr. at quarterback and he comes back ready to have a strong senior season. Last season, Singleton Jr. threw for 2,079 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Gary Gaither, Spencer: Though the school sits teetering on middle and southern Georgia, Gaither is coming off a junior season that rivals many on this list of quarterbacks. The signal caller led Spencer to a 10-3 record in 2022, throwing 21 touchdowns and just over 2,000 yards.

Jake Merklinger, Calvary Day: A Tennessee Volunteer commitment, Merklinger heads into this 2023 season ready to prove he's one of the top quarterbacks in all of the southeast. Merklinger a year ago threw for 1,987 yards and 32 touchdowns to an incredible just two picks.

Barton Mixon, Savannah Country Day: The Hornets relied heavily on the play of the sophomore last season and expect Mixon to take a big jump this fall. Mixon in 2022 threw for 1,361 yards, 11 touchdowns and also rushed for 210 on the ground.

Dayson Griffis, Appling County: Griffis is a multi-sport athlete, as he also plays for Appling County's baseball team. He shows off his arm aplenty in the fall on the gridiron and is coming off a 2022 season in which he threw for 1,710 yards and 15 touchdowns to just four interceptions.

Marvis Parrish, Lowndes: Though the Vikings are coming off their worst win-loss season since the 1990's, Parrish remains the constant at quarterback and is line for a big 2023 season. Parrish last year threw for 1,329 yards and eight touchdowns.

Todd Robinson, Valdosta: Just a sophomore starting for one of the most storied programs in the state, Robinson had himself a nice 2022 season. He's back to lead the Wildcats after an 8-3 campaign, throwing for 878 yards, 10 touchdowns and also rushed for 523.

Camren Hill, Thomasville: Hill was just a freshman starting for the Bulldogs last season, so the sky is the limit when it comes to him as a sophomore. Hill last season threw for 1,529 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Demetrius Holloway, Beach: It was a tough campaign last year for the Beach Bulldogs, but Holloway was one of the team's bright spots. As a freshman starter, Hill completed 84-of-176 passes for 1,085 yards and nine touchdowns.

Chris Martin, Tift County: The senior quarterback recently just committed to Alcorn State. Martin figures to be one of the top quarterbacks in South Georgia and is a 3-star rated prospect.
