Let’s take a closer look at some of the top returning wide receivers in high school football for the 2023 season in the Peach State.

Our list includes some of the best in the country and players who look to be the top up-and-coming wideouts throughout the Peach State in 2023. We compiled 15 names of running backs who figure to be among the best in Georgia.

Plenty of worthy names are on this list, so be sure to vote in our poll for who you think will be the top returning wide receiver for the upcoming season. Voting will close on August 31st, just in time for the start of the regular season.

Editor’s note: Our corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. This poll is specifically for fans to vote on the players that have been nominated and in no way discredits any other player that may not be mentioned in our poll.

Ny Carr, Colquitt County: The fleet-footed wide receiver hauled in 62 passes for 1,051 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2022. Carr is also a Georgia commitment.

Debron Gatling, Milton: Last season as a junior, Gatling fell just under 1,000 yards receiving and scored nine times. Gatling has already committed to Texas A&M.

Marc Essley, Milton: Opposite of Gatling, Essley had himself a pretty impressive season. The wide receiver caught 56 passes for 571 yards and scored seven times.

Thomas Blackshear, Calvary Day: Blackshear heads into the fall with a bevy of teams on his trail, including Alabama, Auburn and Cincinnati among them. The wide receiver will be one of the best in Georgia in 2023.

Antavious Murphy, Bainbridge: Playing more of the athlete role at Bainbridge, Murphy is coming off a strong 2022 campaign. Murphy last year caught 69 passes for 1,090 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Dakarai Anderson, Perry: Already committed to the Cincinnati Bearcats, Anderson was a menace to opposing defenses last year. The wide receiver caught 66 passes for 1,096 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Carter Hays, First Presbyterian Day: Though Hays might not have all the offers and stars next to his name, his production last season is unquestionable. Hays caught 75 passes for 1,362 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2022.

Peyton Zachary, Kell: Diminutive at 5-foot-7, 145 pounds, Zachary is one of the fastest receivers in the Peach State. Zachary holds offers from Indiana, Louisville and Missouri to name a few.

Joshua Washington, Savannah Country Day: As just a freshman, Washington nearly compiled 1,000 yards receiving and should be in line to surpass that total this fall. Washington in 2022 snatched 36 passes for 630 yards and four touchdowns.

Zion Ragins, Jones County: In 2022, Ragins hauled in 46 passes for 557 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for an additional 161 yards and scored twice. Committed recently to Oklahoma.

Josiah Abdullah, Woodward Academy: Playing as the No. 2 receiver for the War Eagles last season, Abdullah flourished. The wideout hauled in 35 passes for 536 yards and eight scores. Has offers from Alabama, Arkansas and Auburn among his many.

Ricky Johnson, Houston County: Johnson paired up with Woodburn to form one of the top duos in the Peach State. In 2022, Johnson fetched 53 passes for 840 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Kale Woodburn, Houston County: As a junior wideout, Woodburn is coming off of one of the best 2022 seasons. Woodburn caught 67 passes for 1,044 yards and 13 touchdowns for the Bears.

Jalewis Solomon, Schley County: Solomon is about to announce his commitment at the beginning of August between schools like Auburn, Florida State, Kentucky, South Carolina and Texas A&M. Last season the receiver caught 86 passes for 1,210 yards and 10 scores.

Zeke Whittington, Habersham Central: The Raiders may have had trouble getting wins, but Whittington surely didn't have any issues in the production department as a freshman. In 2022, Whittington had 96 receptions for 987 yards and two touchdowns.
