Vote: Who is the best senior baseball player in Georgia in 2024?

Here are 10 candidates for your voting consideration

The high school baseball season is underway in Georgia, which makes it the perfect time to take a look at the best senior players in the state.

There is not shortage of talent and building a list of nominees is difficult, but we've narrowed the list of Best Senior Baseball Players in Georgia to 10 players on whom you can vote.

Voting will end on March 15, 2024 at 11:59.

Here are the nominees:

Arnold Abernathy Jr., Middle Infield, North Cobb

Abernathy Jr. is one of the top names to look for this season regardless of class, but he definitely headlines the 2024 class. He is one of the best middle-infielders in the state and has shown it throughout his career. He has all the tools including a 6.38 60 and has had throws up to 98 mph. Abernathy Jr. will be headed to Tennessee after this season to play his collegiate ball.

Michael Mullinax, Outfield, North Cobb Christian

Mullinax has all the physical tools. He is 6-foot-1, 195-poundes, with good strength and speed as he ran a 6.31 in the 60. He uses these tools to be an elite outfielder, specializing in center field. He has a strong arm throwing 98 mph from the outfield and great range as he uses his speed. At the plate he is a switch hitter and explosive from both sides, but can reach triple-digit exit velocity from the right side. He helped lead North Cobb Christian to a State Championship victory last season and will be looking to repeat this year. After that he will be playing his college ball at UGA.

Rustan Rigdon, Middle Infield, Metter

Rigdon is a middle-infielder with good defensive play and tools. His glove work definitely stands out. He is a switch hitter with pop from both sides and has good speed on the base paths with a 6.53 in the 60. Rigdon’s play on the diamond has been special for a while and he has been committed to play at Vanderbilt since 2021.

Tate Strickland, Pitcher, Harrison

Harrison’s ace would also be the ace on thousands of other schools throughout the county. The 6-foot-3 right-hander has a fastball that isn’t touched often. It is in the high 90’s and is complimented by a deceptive power curve that dips to the low 80’s. He also throws a two-seamer that gets up to high 80’s and a slider to keep hitters guessing. After Strickland is done dealing at Harrison, he will take his talents to the University of Tennessee.

Levi Clark, Catcher, Walton

Clark is an athletic, do-it-all catcher, standing at 6-foot-2, 200-pounds. He can hit for power with near triple-digit exit velocity from the right side of the plate. He has good speed to be behind the plate, with a 6.93 60, and a pop time of 1.88. Not only has Clark showed up and showed out at Walton but he has also done so in tournaments across the country. Being one of the best catchers not only in the state but the country, the University of Tennessee will be glad to have him on their roster.

Nate Taylor, Pitcher, Buford

Taylor is and has been a dominant pitcher every time he steps on the mound. He challenges hitters with a fastball in the mid-high 90’s and does a great job at staying out of hitter’s counts while commanding the zone. He throws a slider and changeup in the low 80’s to throw hitters off. After this season, Buford’s current ace will be heading to UGA to turn up the heat on the mound in Athens.

Jackson Barberi, Pitcher, Brookwood

Barberi stands tall at 6-foot-4 and his large frame is a great pitcher’s build. He has a good fastball that has gotten up to 95 mph with a good sweeping slider in the low 80’s. On top of being one of the best pitchers in the state, Barberi is great at the plate with significant power, especially to his pull side, and great bat speed. But the University of Florida will definitely want him for his prowess on the mound over any of his other spectacular attributes.

Bryce Clavon, Athlete, Kell

Clavon is an all-around athlete who can play multiple positions at a high level. His athleticism shines bright with a good build at 6 feet tall and 190-pounds. He can run the 60 in 6.41 seconds. These tools help him in the infield where he is very smooth with his footwork and accurate on throws that are in the mid-90’s across the infield. In the outfield, he has good instincts and speed, and the arm strength is apparent with throws that have reached 98 mph. He has been named to the World Showcase Top Prospect list, was on the USA Baseball 18u National team and is also a UGA commit.

Conrad Cason, Pitcher/Infield, Greater Atlanta Christian

Cason is a legit two-way prospect at both pitcher and shortstop. At 6-foot-2 he has a big presence on the mound which makes his fastball in the mid-90’s look that much more menacing. He also has a slider to work off of that. Defensively, he has good feet and athleticism with a 6.47 in the 60 and his strong arm is a huge asset. At the plate he has big time bat speed and huge power. Last season for the Spartans, he had a .327 batting average with seven homers. Mississippi State will be ecstatic once he is on their roster next season.

Terrence Kiel II, Outfield, Pace Academy

Kiel II is one of the fastest that Georgia has to offer. His time of 6.31 in the 60 helps him out in so many ways on the diamond. In the outfield his range seems to be limitless, and he has a good arm as well, so he holds runners at bay from any type of advancement. His speed also helps on the base paths, whether it's stealing countless bases or turning what seems to be singles into doubles and triples on the regular. He isn’t just turning fluke bloopers into extra base hits; Kiel II has some serious pop in his bat with exit velos in the triple digits. After he tears it up for Pace Academy he will move on and take his talents to Texas A&M next season.
