Greenforest boys and girls sweep GHSA A-D2 basketball state titles
MACON, GEORGIA – Green Forest Christian Academy had plenty to celebrate at the Macon Centerplex as both its boys and girls basketball teams capture GHSA Class A Division 2 state championships.
The girls kicked off the championship day with a 39-28 win over Montgomery County as Mili Lazarevic and Arek Manoon combined for 21 points is this low scoring affair. Manoon finished with a double-double, adding 14 rebounds to our 10 points. She also had 4 blocks and a steal.
Lana Koricanac also had a solid performance for Greenforest, scoring 6 points, securing 6 rebounds, handing out 6 assists, blocking a shot and getting a steal.
Montgomery County’s Marley Bell also had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. She added 3 blocks and 2 steals.
The Greenforest Christian boys took the court as soon as the girls finished their awards ceremony and captured a state championship trophy of their own with a 68-39 victory over Manchester.
Nine different Eagles scored points, led by 18 from Elijah Lewis. Caleb Kawela finished with an 11 point, 11 rebound double-double. He also added 2 assists.
The Eagles scored 34 points in the paint and got 17 points off turnovers.
Treylin Jones and Daryus Bryant combined for 24 points pace Manchester.
