Every week during the 2020-2021 girls basketball season, SBLive will rank the Top 10 high school girls basketball teams in the state of Mississippi, regardless of classification.

Here are the SBLive Girls Basketball Power 10 rankings for Feb. 9, as compiled by SBLive Sports reporter Tyler Cleveland.

1. Olive Branch (18-1)

Last week: No. 1

The Conquistadors finished the regular-season portion of their schedule with an 85-48 win over Center Hill (11-17) last week. They’ll host Lewisburg (12-14) in the first round of the 1-6A Tournament Tuesday night.

2. Meridian (15-3)

Last week: No. 2

The Wildcats lost to a very good Brandon team 62-50 in their regular-season finale last week. The good news is that it didn’t hurt their standing headed into the Region 5-6A Tournament, which begins Thursday. The top-seeded Wildcats have drawn Oak Grove (9-7) in the first round.

3. Gulfport (21-2)

Last week: No. 3

The Admirals beat Harrison Central 56-44 last Tuesday night to close out the regular season slate and beat West Harrison 66-19 Monday night to open the Region 8-6A Tournament.

4. Columbus (12-3)

Last week: No. 4

The Falcons made up for lost time last week, beating Grenada, New Hope and West Point in three consecutive days finish 5-1 and clinch the top seed in Region 2-5A headed into this week’s tournament. They’ll face West Point in the first round Tuesday.

5. Belmont (24-3)

Last week: No. 6

The Cardinals played some tough, tough games down the stretch to get ready for post-season play. They beat Tishomingo County (20-2) and Itawamba AHS (5-8) last week. They’ll open the 1-3A Tournament this week.

6. Tishomingo County (20-2)

Last week: No. 5

The Braves lost to Belmont last Tuesday night, but beat the brakes off Biggersville 75-42 in the regular-season finale over the weekend and look unstoppable headed into the Region 1-4A Tournament this week.

7. Choctaw Central (16-3)

Last week: No. 7

The Warriors ran their winning streak to 12 games with a 65-42 win over Louisville (12-5) last week. We’ve come to expect Choctaw Central to be a major player in the 4A post-season, and it looks like they are primed to make another serious playoff run.

8. Madison Central (15-2)

Last week: NR

The Jaguars have played some great basketball since mid-January, and that continued last week with a 56-22 win over Murrah and a 69-53 win over then-No. 10 Neshoba Central. The Jags are scheduled to face Murrah in the first round of the Region 4A tournament.

9. Laurel (12-2)

Last week: No. 9

The Tornadoes closed out the regular season last week with a 58-57 loss to Brookhaven and a 38-26 win over West Jones. They’ll open the Region 5-5A Tournament against South Jones Tuesday night.

10. Brandon (19-4)

Last week: No. 10

The Bulldogs picked up the big win over Meridian last week, then put the screws to Terry in a 72-35 win to open the Region 6-6A Tournament Monday night. They’ll face either Northwest Rankin or Pearl in the tournament final Friday night.

Dropped out: Neshoba Central (No. 10)
