Photos: Second-ranked Rigby reaches the Class 5A football finals for a third consecutive season with a thrilling win over No. 7 Meridian
The Trojans won it in 2019, lost to Rocky Mountain last year - and now face 5A High Country rival Highland for the 5A title next weekend.
MERIDIAN - It is fair to say Rigby Trojans are starting to make a habit of playing in the Class 5A state football championship game.
Rigby defensive back Ryder Thompson swatted away Meridian's fourth-down pass in the end zone, setting the stage for Tiger Adolpho's game-winning 2-yard touchdown run, and the Trojans survived, 55-49, in three overtimes.
Adolpho threw for 248 yards, ran for 76 and accounted for six touchdowns (four rushing, two passing).
There were no punts or turnovers in the game.
