Rockland boys basketball PF Teague Matthews voted the WaFd Bank Idaho High School Athlete of the Week

Congratulations to Rockland boys basketball power forward Teague Matthews for being voted SBLive’s WaFd Bank Idaho High School Athlete of the Week for Feb. 28-March 6!

The sophomore blocked a game-winning three-point attempt to preserve a 53-51 win over Camas County in the Class 1A Division II state championship game.

Matthews received 59.14% of the vote, beating out Lapwai's Titus Yearout, who finished second with 35.39%. Lapwai's Kross Taylor finished third with 2.02% and Melba's Joe Reiber finished fourth with 1.68%. There were over 10,000 votes tallied this week!

Kross Taylor, Lapwai boys basketball: Taylor totaled 20 points to help Lapwai post their first undefeated season in 33 years in rout of Kamiah in 1A Division I title game.

Isaac Davis, Hillcrest boys basketball: Davis had another double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds in Hillcrest's first state title win over Pocatello in the Class 4A state final.

Gatlin Bair, Kimberly boys basketball: Bair recorded a double-double (12 points, 11 rebounds) to help Kimberly end their 70-year state title drought with a 40-22 win over McCall-Donnelly in the 3A state championship game.

Liam Campbell, Owyhee boys basketball: The sophomore posted a team-high 16 points to help Owyhee become the first basketball team since the Lake City girls (1995) to win a state title in its first year of existence after a 50-43 victory against underdog Centennial in the 5A State Championship game.

Cache Beus, Melba boys basketball: Beus notched a double-double (11 points, 10 rebounds) to help Melba knock off defending champion St. Maries for the 2A state title.

Julian Bowie, Pocatello boys basketball: Bowie poured in 24 points to lead Pocatello to a 75-72 victory over Jerome in the Idaho Class 4A boys basketball state semifinals.

Karson Barber, Rigby boys basketball: Barber scored 14 points to lead Rigby to a 54-52 upset of Eagle in the Class 5A state quarterfinals.

Austin Ramos, Meridian boys basketball: Ramos had a game-high 17 points in Meridian's upset win over Madison in the 5A state quarterfinals.

Tyler Shipp, Centennial boys basketball: The senior totaled a team-high 17 points to lead Centennial to another upset win in the state tournament with a 61-53 5A semifinals win over Rigby.

Ethan Pearce, Meridian boys basketball: Pearce led the Warriors to a very near upset of Owyhee with 17 points, 6 rebounds and a pair of blocked shots in a 53-50 double overtime loss in the semifinals of the Class 5A State Tournament.

Joe Reiber, Melba boys basketball: Reiber chalked up 15.7 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game to anchor the Mustangs to their state title in 11 years at the Class 2A State Tournament.

Titus Yearout, Lapwai boys basketball: Yearout tallied 16.3 points, 5.7 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game as the Wildcats finished a season unbeaten for the first time since 1989.

Jack Payne, Owyhee boys basketball: Payne averaged 9.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game as the Storm ended the season on a 20-game winning streak on their way to the Class 5A state championship.

DJ Green, McCall-Donnelly boys basketball: Green tallied 17.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game as the Vandals finished runner-up at state for the second straight year at the Class 3A State Tournament.

Jaxon Dines, Homedale boys basketball: Dines bagged 20.7 points and 3.3 steals per game as the Trojans won the consolation championship at the Class 3A Tournament.

Jordan Lenz, North Fremont boys basketball: Lenz recorded 25.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3.3 steals per game as the Huskies took third at the Class 2A State Tournament.
