Congratulations to Owyhee softball CF/RHP Mantha Hatzenbeller for being voted SBLive’s WaFd Bank Idaho High School Athlete of the Week for May 9-15!

The sophomore recorded two hits, including a 3-run home run, while picking up the win in the circle with four strikeouts to guide the first-year program to the 5A District III championship after a 7-5 victory against Eagle.

Hatzenbeller received 57.77% of the vote, beating out Bishop Kelly's Patrick Monahan who finished second with 35.08%.

Here are the other athletes who were nominated for the week of May 9-15:

Isaac Antunes, Columbia Baseball: Antunes was 4-for-5 from the plate and drove in two runs, including the tying and go-ahead ones, in a 5-1 come-from-behind, extra-inning win over Middleton in the 4A District III final.

Harper Campanella, Bishop Kelly Softball: Campanella went 3-for-4, including a double, and drove in four RBIs in a 6-1 win over Vallivue in the 4A District III championship game.

Abby Hancock, Rigby Girls Track and Field: Hancock was a perfect 4-for-4 with wins in the 100-meter dash (12.28 seconds), 200 (26.98), long jump (17 feet, 7 inches - personal record) and was a member of the Trojans’ 4x100 (50.25) relay team at the 5A/4A District V-VI meet.

Landon Helms, Emmett Boys Track and Field: Helms broke three 4A District III records with wins in the pole vault (16 feet, 4 inches), the 110-meter hurdles (14.03 seconds) and the 300 hurdles (38.63) at the 4A District III meet.

McKinley Hill, Pocatello Softball: Hill went 4-for-4 from the plate with three RBIs as the Thunder shut out Century 10-0 in the 4A District V championship.

Ruby Kessinger, Orofine Girls Track and Field: Kessinger claimed titles in the 100-meter dash (13.10 seconds), the long jump (16 feet, 8 inches), the triple jump (35-6.75) and shot put (33-2) at the 2A District I-II meet.

Mason Lawyer, Boise Boys Track and Field: Lawyer collected four first-place finishes in the 100-meter dash (10.68 seconds), the 200 (21.45), 4x200 relay (1:26.89) and the 4x400 relay (3:19.97) at the 5A District III meet.

Matejah Mangum, Pocatello Girls Track and Field: Mangum claimed four different titles at the 4A/3A District V meet with wins in the 100-meter dash (12.44 seconds), 200 (25.22), and the 4x100 (49.77) and 4x200 (1:44.95) relays.

Conner Marshall, Mountain View Baseball: Marshall fired a three-hit shutout in a 6-0 win and a sweep of Rocky Mountain in the 5A District III championship series.

Patrick Monahan, Bishop Kelly Boys Track and Field: Monahan set three 4A District III records with wins in the high jump (6 feet, 6.25 inches), the long jump (22-1.5) and the triple jump (45-5.5.) at the 4A District III meet.

Brooke Patterson, Eagle Girls Golf: Patterson carded an even-par 71 to capture that elusive 5A District III title after twice finishing runner-up.

Acacia Pecor, Timberlake Softball: Pecor threw a no-hitter with 13 strikeouts to lead the Tigers to a 13-0 shutout of Kellogg in the 3A District I championship game. It’s Timberlake’s 15th district title since 2000.

Logan Smith, Boise Girls Track and Field: Smith topped the podium four times in the 200-meter dash (25.81), the 800 (2:11.11) and on the 4x400 (3:52.87) and 4x800 relay (9:22.69) teams, which were both state bests at the 5A District III meet.

Gracie Strickland, Capital Girls Track and Field: Strickland went a perfect 3-for-3 with wins in the shot put (41 feet, 4.5 inches), discus (127-9.5) and triple jump (36-0) at the 5A District III meet.

Damaris Stuffle, Lewiston Girls Track and Field: Stuffle won the 100-meter hurdles (15.57 seconds), 300 hurdles (46.28-school record), long jump (16-11.5) and the 4x400 relay (4:03.66) at the 5A District I-II meet.

Elliott Taylor, Lewiston Baseball: Taylor went 3-for-5 from the plate, including a three-run jack, as part of a six RBI day in wins over Post Falls and Coeur d’Alene to lead his team to 5A District I-II championship.

Matt Thomas, Blackfoot Boys Track and Field: Thomas swept the long-distance runs in the 800 (2:02.18), 1,600 (4.32.75) and 3,200 (9.32.66) -meter runs while being a member of the winning 4x400 (3:34.69) relay team at the 5A/4A District V-VI District meet.

Taci Watkins, St. Maries Softball: Watkins allowed just three hits and combined for 27 strikeouts in leading her team to the 2A District I-II title.
