Drayton Black, Owyhee Baseball: After delivering the game-winning RBI in the opening game at state, the senior got the call on the mound in the Class 5A state title game and once again came up big. He fired a five-inning, two-hit shutout as the Storm blanked Rocky Mountain 6-0 to win state in their first year of existence.

Landon Cheney, Nampa Christian Baseball: Cheney tossed a complete-game, 2-hit shutout with 14 strikeouts to lead the Trojans to an 8-0 win over Firth for their 12th state championship in program history.

Colin Dempsey, Bishop Kelly Baseball: Dempsey allowed just six hits and struck out six for a complete-game shutout to help the Knights’ go back-to-back in a 15-0 win over Twin Falls in the Class 4A title game.

Zayne Hall, Homedale Softball: Hall went 3-for-4, including a grand slam, with six RBIs as the Trojans cruised past Weiser 16-6 in the Class 3A championship game for the seventh title in school history.

Landon Helms, Emmett Boys Track and Field: Helms ended his high school career on a very high note with four Class 4A state championships. He won in the pole vault (15 feet), long jump (23-1), 300-meter hurdles (38.15 seconds) and the 110 hurdles at 13.69, which shattered the 36-year-old all-classification record and is tied for the 11th fastest in the nation this season.

Shane Garner, Eagle Boys Tennis: Garner, along with his doubles partner Evan Walther, upset the top-ranked team of Rocky Mountain’s Carson O’Hara and Dylan Maude 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 to win the Class 5A state doubles title. It was back-to-back titles for Garner. He won it last year with older brother Kyle, who is playing at the Air Force Academy. Between the two of them, they’ve won five straight.

Dalaney Keith, Skyview Softball: Keith had two hits, including a two-run single, and three RBIs, to help the Hawks go back-to-back with a 5-4 win over Owyhee in the Class 5A state championship game. Skyview had to go through the loser’s bracket and win four straight games en route to the title.

Eli Lawrence, Meridian Boys Track and Field: Lawrence came within less than four inches of the all-classification triple jump record, but still put up a mark of49 feet, 6.25 inches to win by five feet and claim the Class 5A boys triple jump for the third year in a row.

Mason Lawyer, Boise Boys Track and Field: The Washington State signee left the Idaho Track and Field Championships with the distinction of being the meet’s fastest man with his title in the Class 5A 100-meter dash at 10.46 seconds. He also won the 200 (21.62), the 4x400 (3 minutes, 22.67 seconds) relay and set an all-classification record in the 4x200 (1:26.97).

Eva Lowder, Centennial Girls Track and Field: One day after Emmett’s Tatum Richards set an all-classification record in the pole vault at 13 feet even, Lowder shattered it. The junior jumped 13 feet, 9 inches, which is now the ninth-best mark in the nation this season, to take the Class 5A girls pole vaulting title.

Lauren McCall, Timberline Girls Track and Field: A year after leaving state with nothing, the junior left this time with everything. She went a perfect 4-for-4 with titles in the Class 5A girls 400 (56 seconds), 300-meter hurdles (44.11), 4x100 (48.39) and 4x200 (1 minute, 42.79 seconds) relays.

Liam Murray, Boise Boys Track and Field: The Dartmouth signee claimed three championships by partnering with Lawyer in those Class 5A titles in the 4x400-and 4x200-meter relays to go along with him setting an all-classification record in the 400 at 47.50 seconds.

James Onanubosi, Bishop Kelly Boys Track: The University of Arizona signee won titles in the Class 4A 100-meter dash (10.54 seconds), the 200 (21.96) and the 4x100 relay (42.16).

Lauren Parish, Rocky Mountain Girls Golf: Parish shot a 6-under for the lowest score in 5A girls state tournament history on her way to becoming the first individual in school history to win a title. It all helped the team go back-to-back.

Nelah Roberts, Skyline Girls Track and Field: Roberts first broke Lexy Halladay’s (BYU) all-classification record in the 3,200-meter run (10:30.63) before setting a new Class 4A classification record in the 1,600 (4:58.06) en route to state titles in both of those events.

Logan Smith, Boise Girls Track and Field: Smith, who will play soccer next season at Stanford, ended her track career on a high note with three state championships. She set an all-classification record with her win in the Class 5A 800-meter run (2 minutes, 9.7 seconds) to go with wins in the 4x400 (3:57.10) and 4x800 (9:18.92) relays.

Kelli Ann Strand, Challis Girls Golf: Strand broke her own all-classification record for the lowest two-day score in Idaho girls state tournament history by six strokes no less with a 15-under en route to a third consecutive Class 2A championship. The University of Nebraska signee probably would have been a four-timer had the COVID-19 pandemic not canceled the 2020 season.

Ysabella Villegas, Bishop Kelly Softball: Villegas hit for the cycle, and only needed four innings to do so, as the Knights routed Vallivue 23-1 in the Class 4A final for their third consecutive championship. Villegas went 4-for-4 with four RBIs and five runs scored.

Emma Hillam, Fruitland Girls Track and Field: The Utah State signee swept the Class 3A long distance events with wins in the 800 (2:15.72), 1,600 (5:11.89) and the 3,200 (11:15.43) where she finished the year unbeaten. She also was a part of the winning medley relay (1:52.61) to go 4-for-4 at the meet.

Haiylee Reeves, Owyhee softball: The freshman catcher batted .462, caught a total of 32 innings along with throwing three runners out, and had a total of 28 putouts in the state tournament. For the season, Reeves batted .319 and threw out nine runners in 134 total innings caught.
