Madison golfer Ashton McArthur voted the WaFd Bank Idaho High School Athlete of the Week

Congratulations to the Bobcats' state champion golfer for being voted SBLive’s WaFd Bank Idaho High School Athlete of the Week for October 3-8!

Congratulations to Madison's Ashton McArthur for being voted SBLive’s WaFd Bank Idaho High School Athlete of the Week for Oct. 3-8!

Going low is what McArthur does - and the Utah State University commit certainly did just that at the Class 5A boys championships at Teton Lakes Golf Club. The Post-Register's two-time player of the year fired a final-round, course-record 10-under-par 62 to chase down Eagle's Wheaton Ennis to win the state title by one stroke. Making a 35-foot birdie putt on the final hole to win, McArthur finished with a 11-under 133 total.

McArthur, the first non-football player to win the award, received nearly 52.4% of the vote, beating out Sandpoint football player Parker Pettit, who finished second with 26.0%.
