IDAHO NOMINEES
Gatlin Bair, Burley boys track and field: Every week, he keeps doing something more spectacular in the sprints. On Saturday, he lowered his personal-best time in the 200-meter dash to 20.47 seconds (in a headwind) at the BYU Invitational. It is now the No. 2 prep mark in the country.
Victor Byaundaombe, Capital boys track and field: Regained the state lead in the triple jump (personal-best 47 feet, 81/2 inches) with his jump to win the Boise City Championships, holding off Bishop Kelly's Cole Miller (46-11, No. 3 in state).
Trevor Cogley, Lake City boys track and field: In back-to-back weeks, lowered his lifetime-best time in the 400-meter dash, this time to 48.11 seconds at the District I Meet of Champions at Post Falls High School. It is the top time in Idaho.
Jorja Crider, Middleton softball: She has no problem with the long ball. The junior extended her season-best run of consecutive games (five) with home runs when she parked one in a come-from-behind 15-11 victory over Bishop Kelly. She leads the state with 21 home runs this spring.
McKinley Hill, Pocatello softball: It's been an all-state caliber season for the Thunder catcher, who came up big in five games last week (5-0). She had 10 hits (six extra-base hits, including two home runs) and drove in 12 runs, including a season-high six-RBI showing against Shelley, to pace undefeated Pocatello.
Owen Mangini, Lake City baseball: With the 5A Inland Empire League title on the line, the Timberwolves' third baseman hit the game-winning two-run double in the seventh inning in an 11-9 win over Coeur d'Alene. Mangini had three hits in the game, including a home run.
Annastasia Peters, Post Falls girls track and field: Took back the lead in Idaho in the 1,600-meter run with a personal-best 4-minute, 56.45-second showing at the District I Meet of Champions. It was the second time she recorded a time of less than five minutes this spring.
Chris Ricard, Lewiston baseball: The North Region player of the year showed by against Post Falls, crushing two home runs and a double in a 17-0 victory. He also had a double in the abbreviated 5A IEL nightcap.
Kaliann Scoresby, Thunder Ridge softball: The junior had a big day against Highland, tossing a complete-game no-hitter (gave up unearned run), striking out 18 while driving in the game-winning run with her seventh-inning single in a come-from-behind 2-1 victory. It was her third no-hitter of the season.
Capri Sims, Post Falls girls track and field: In back-to-back meets, Sims has set new personal heights in the shot put. She won the event with a state-leading throw of 44 feet, 9 inches at the District I Meet of Champions.
