Here are the candidates for SBLive's Illinois High School Athlete of the Week for Oct. 3-8 as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff.

Chase Adams, Naperville Central boys soccer

Adams tallied a hat trick in Naperville Central’s 8-0 win over Plainfield South. Naperville has one of the most talented teams in the state.

Jordyn Beverly, Marion football

A junior, Beverly carried 30 times for a career-high 227 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winning score in overtime as Marion defeated Centralia 32-31 Saturday. Beverly has rushed for 363 yards and four touchdowns on 40 carries in his past two games.

Johnny Creamean, New Trier boys golf

Creamean finished as the individual state champion as New Trier took first in the 3A championship. He finished with a two-round score of 146.

Andre Crews, Simeon football

Crews scored three touchdowns, including an 80-yard run to open the scoring, as the Wolverines defeated Kenwood 29-0 on Saturday.

Gavin Flanagan, Prospect football

Flanagan rushed for 205 yards in a 55-27 win over Buffalo Grove. Prospect improved to 6-1 on the season.

Drew Gerke, Batavia football

Gerke recorded four catches for 102 yards and two scores and had a 92-yard kick return for a touchdown to help Batavia defeat Geneva 33-7.

Josh Gettamy, Yorkville football

Gettemy ran for 249 yards and two touchdowns in Yorkville’s 14-point win Friday night.

Jace Grunder, Erie-Prophetstown football

Rushed for 232 yards and four touchdowns on 15 carries and added 31 receiving yards in a 33-0 win over Bureau Valley.

Antwon Hayden, East St. Louis football

Hayden had seven tackles for the Flyers defense and scored on a 45-yard fumble recovery and a 21-yard blocked punt recovery. The East St. Louis defense shut out Alton en route to an 80-0 victory.

Phinis Hiler, Prosser football

A sophomore, Hiler recorded nine tackles in the Falcons’ 7-6 win against Clemente on Thursday. Prosser, which improved to 5-2, needed a late goal-line stand to secure the victory.

Nicole Johnson, Edwardsville girls golf

Johnson, a senior, won the Illinois Class 2A championship with a two-round score of 138, four strokes better than the second-place finishers. She shot a 70 in Round 1, which tied for the best score, and then a 68 in Round 2, the lowest score on the day.

Waleed Johnson, Plano football

Johnson scored three first-half touchdowns in a 40-14 win over Harvard.

James Kwiecinski, Lincoln-Way East football

Kwiecinski, a senior running back for the Griffins, ran for 100 yards on 21 carries and scored four touchdowns en route to a 52-14 victory over Homewood-Flossmoor.

Ashton Lutz, Carmel football

Lutz kicked four field goals – from 31, 29, 36 and 30 yards out – in his team’s 19-6 win over Marmion.

Owen Lyons, Brother Rice football

The senior wide receiver caught five passes for 97 yards including a game-winning one handed touchdown grab in double overtime in a 31-24 upset victory over No. 14 Joliet Catholic.

Joe Mayo, Richards football

Mayo completed 23 of 39 passes for 272 yards and four touchdowns and two interceptions in a loss to Lemont.

Jayden McDonald, Prosser football

A sophomore defensive lineman, McDonald recorded nine tackles and three tackles for loss in the Falcons’ 7-6 victory over Clemente on Thursday to improve to 52.

Kainon McQueary, Washington football

McQueary had 17 carries for 172 yards and a touchdown, caught two passes for 26 yards, and added an interception on defense. He helped Washington to their third straight victory in a 24-7 conference win against Dunlap.

Colt Michael, O’Fallon football

Quarterback Colt Michael broke the single season passing touchdown record with 23 TDS in seven games for O’Fallon in its win over Belleville West.

Alessio Milivojevic, St. Francis football

The junior quarterback accounted for four first half touchdowns including a 55-yard touchdown run in St. Francis 83-0 win over Bishop McNamara. St. Francis improved to 7-0 overall.

Diego Ochoa, York boys soccer

Ochoa recorded a clean sheet against Glenbard West in a 3-0 win. His teammate, Jayden Waski had two goals as well.

Jake Petrow, St. Ignatius football

Petrow ran for 202 yards and two touchdowns on just seven carries in St. Ignatius’ 50-20 road win Friday night.

Drew Surges, St. Charles North football

Surges, a senior two-way player for St. Charles North, rushed for 133 yards on 11 carries and three scores while catching five passes for 33 yards. He made seven tackles on defense and blocked a field goal in a 38-7 North Star victory over St. Charles East.

Joey Trupiano, St. Anthony boys golf

A sophomore, Trupiano won the Illinois Class 1A golf championship and helped lead St. Anthony to the Class 1A team championship. Trupiano recorded a two-round score of 148.

Tyler Vasey, Prairie Ridge football

Vasey had 238 yards rushing and three touchdowns for Prairie Ridge in a 35-14 win.

Dominic Voegele, Columbia football

Voegele accounted for 288 total yards and six touchdowns in his team’s 44-7 win over Salem. The senior QB threw for 165 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 123 yards and three touchdowns.

Luke Wallace, Lemont football

Wallace touched the ball three times and it resulted in three scores. He had a 49-yard receiving touchdown, an 80-yard punt return for a touchdown, and an 81-yard kick return for a touchdown in Lemont’s 68-30 win over Richards.

Madelyn Young, Mt. Carmel girls golf

Young, a senior, recorded a two-round score of 137 to win the Illinois Class 1A individual championship and lead Mt. Carmel to the Illinois Class 1A team title. Young had the lowest scores in each round as she shot a 69 in Round 1 and followed that up with a 68 in Round 2.
