Oswego East's Bryce Shoto voted SBLive's Illinois High School Athlete of the Week (Jan. 23-28)

Congratulations to Oswego East's Bryce Shoto, who was voted the SBLive Illinois high school Athlete of the Week for Jan. 23-28. He received more than 52 percent of the votes.

Shoto scored a team-high 18 points on Friday to help Oswego East to a 61-53 conference victory over West Aurora to remain undefeated in the Southwest Prairie.

Conant swimmer Bryce Loeger was second in the voting with more than 33 percent of the votes.

Chase Abraham, Thornton Fractional North boys basketball

Abraham had his best varsity performance to date during a Thursday contest against Oak Lawn. The junior guard had the hot hand as he tallied a career-high 34 points to lead the Meteors to a 67-60 South Suburban Conference victory.

Lucas Anam-Ndu, Buffalo Grove boys basketball

During a Tuesday non-conference matchup against Schaumburg, Anam-Ndu emerged as the difference-maker as he scored a game-high 16 points. He made a key fourth quarter 3-pointer to increase the lead to five as the Bison pulled out a 41-35 victory.

Darrion Baker, Hillcrest boys basketball

A senior forward and Akron recruit, Baker saved his best for the fourth quarter during a 73-62 win over South Suburban Conference opponent Evergreen Park. Baker finished with 19 points, including nine in the final 4 minutes.

Zoey Bohmer, Wheaton North girls basketball

Bohmer starred for the Falcons during a Saturday contest against crosstown rival Wheaton Warrenville South. The junior scored 26 points capped off by 15 points in the final quarter to help Wheaton North to a 41-32 DuKane Conference victory.

Jack Dabbs, Stevenson boys basketball

Dabbs was a dominant scorer and rebounder for the Patriots during a Friday night matchup against Mundelein. The junior tallied a game-high 18 points and snagged 12 rebounds as Stevenson finished with a 47-38 victory. The win marked the 500th career victory for Stevenson coach Pat Ambrose.

Danielle Dempsey, Oak Lawn girls basketball

A standout sophomore for Oak Lawn, Dempsey had a dominant performance against Argo on Tuesday. She recorded a double-double with 17 points along with an impressive 15 rebounds in a 59-35 South-Suburban Red victory.

Brayden Fagbemi, Benet Academy boys basketball

In a East Suburban Catholic Conference rivalry game at Nazareth Academy on Friday, Fagbemi, a Johns Hopkins recruit, shined as he recorded a career-best 31 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals, 2 assists, and a block to help the Redwings secure a 62-37 win.

Trinity Jones, Naperville Central girls basketball

A freshman starter for Naperville Central, Jones looked like an upperclassmen with her impressive effort against Neuqua Valley on Thursday. She recorded a career-high 32 points and a game-high 15 rebounds to go with three assists and three blocked shots as the Redhawks earned a 61-52 DuPage Valley Conference victory.

Janae Kent, Oak Forest girls basketball

An LSU recruit, Kent dominated on Thursday when Oak Forest hosted Argo. The senior scored a game-high 25 points and grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds to help lead the way to a 49-37 victory.

Samuel Loeding, Prairie Ridge boys basketball

Loeding hit some big shots and led the scoring charge for the Wolves as they won a Fox Valley Conference matchup 66-53 against Crystal Lake South on Friday. The forward scored a team-high 19 points, including two fourth quarter 3-pointers to help secure the victory.

Bryce Loeger, Conant boys swimming

At the Cougar Classic at Conant on Saturday, Loeger took home a win in the 50 freestyle by .03 seconds to go along with his time of 50.72 seconds – good for a win and the pool and school record – in the 100 back.

Connor May, Palatine boys basketball

May had a breakout performance on Saturday during a non-conference game against Warren. The 6-foot-7 junior led the way for the Pirates as he scored 31 points on 12-of-17 shooting (3 of 4 from beyond the arc). Palatine earned a 67-44 victory.

MK McNeal, Grant girls basketball

Just a sophomore, McNeal had a solid all-around performance during Grant’s 41-29 victory over Wauconda on Saturday. McNeal scored nine points and grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds.

Kyle Olagbegi, Lincoln-Way East boys basketball

A 6-6 senior forward, Olagbegi battled through two sore ankles on Friday to help lead Lincoln-Way East to a 60-42 victory over Stagg. Olagbegi took over in the second half and scored 13 of his 14 points in the final two quarters.

Adam Panek, Warren boys basketball

Despite struggling with foul trouble early on, Panek was still able to have a large impact in Warren's 55-54 victory over Lake Zurich on Friday. He scored a team-high 15 points including two game-winning free throws to give Warren the lead with less than 20 seconds left to play.

Drew Scharnowski, Burlington Central boys basketball

A 6-9 senior who is committed to Belmont University, Scharnowski reached a career milestone and helped Burlington Central to a Fox Valley Conference win over Crystal Lake South. He poured in 24 points – surpassing 1,000 for his high school career – and also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out five assists in a 70-55 win.

Lauren Slagle, Geneva girls basketball

Slagle enjoyed a big week with two impressive performances. She scored 16 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in a win over St. Charles North on Thursday and then capped off the week with a career-high 26 points in a DuKane Conference victory over Batavia on Saturday.

Ella Todd, Fremd girls basketball

Fremd capped off a 4-0 week with a win over Maine South on Saturday and Todd was a key catalyst. The sophomore scored 22 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and dished out 3 assists as the Vikings defeated Maine South 64-47.

Luke Williams, Naperville North boys basketball

A highly-touted football recruit, Williams starred on the court for the Huskies on Saturday. The 6-0 junior guard scored a game-high 33 points to give Naperville North the edge as they beat East Aurora 68-54.
