Another top prospect from Chicago is headed out of state.

Melvin Bell announced on Twitter on Monday that he was transferring from St. Rita to La Lumiere School in Indiana.

One of the better prospects in the Midwest from the Class of 2025, Bell is a 6-foot-5 shooting guard who received early scholarship offers from Michigan and Missouri along with offers from Eastern Michigan and Toledo in 2021. Bell picked up an offer from Stanford in February.

"My decision to transfer to LaLu is one that wasn't made easily; however, it's one that I truly believe will serve me well as I continue my journey back," Bell wrote on Twitter.

Bell follows the departure of 6-10 junior forward James Brown, who left St. Rita for Link Academy in Missouri after the Mustang's 23-11 campaign this winter. Brown is committed to North Carolina.

Bell averaged 4.9 points per game during his sophomore season while playing with three other Division I prospects in Brown, junior forward Morez Johnson (Illinois commit) and junior guard Nojus Indrusaitis (Iowa State commit).

On Tuesday, the Chicago Sun-Times reported that Roshawn Russell had resigned as the head basketball coach at St. Rita to take a position at St. Laurence. A 2008 St. Rita graduate, Russell led the Mustangs to more than 20 wins in each of his three full seasons at St. Rita.
