Sophomore scored 25 points in win over Heritage Hills

Congratulations to South Spencer's Ty Brown, who was voted the SBLive Indiana high school Athlete of the Week for Jan. 23-28. He received more than 57 percent of the votes.

Brown, a sophomore, scored 25 points in a 65-59 victory against Heritage Hills.

Portage basketball player Michael Wellman finished second in the voting with more than 35 percent of the votes.

Jack Benter, Brownstown Central boys basketball

The Purdue recruit scored a program-record 48 points in an 85-74 win over Silver Creek. The game, completed on Jan. 23, had been suspended earlier in the month when Benter broke a backboard on a dunk.

Ciara Bonner, Chesterton girls basketball

The junior scored 23 points in a 57-46 loss to Andrean.

Amiyah Buchanan, Evansville North girls basketball

The Southeast Missouri State recruit scored 16 points in a 43-29 win over Bloomington South.

Markus Burton, Penn boys basketball

The Notre Dame recruit had 37 points in a 76-61 win over South Bend Riley.

Joey Buttler, Whiteland wrestling

Buttler, a senior, improved to 34-0 on the season when he won the 132-pound championship at the IHSAA Sectional at Mooresville.

Jillian Creager, Homestead girls gymnastics

The freshman scored a 37.925 to win the all-around as the Spartans took first at the Chesterton Trojan Invitational.

Zane Doughty, Ben Davis boys basketball

The Valparaiso recruit had 17 points and eight rebounds in a 46-45 victory against Carmel, and had contributed 12 points and 11 rebounds in a 62-39 victory against Indianapolis Attucks.

Kennedy Fuelling, Norwell girls basketball

The junior became the seventh player in program history to reach the 1,000-point mark.

Jalen Haralson, Fishers boys basketball

The nation's No. 9 sophomore prospect, according to Rivals, scored 20 points in a 53-40 win against Franklin Central.

Brauntae Johnson, Fort Wayne North Side boys basketball

The four-star football prospect scored 36 points in a 63-61 loss to Fort Wayne Concordia, passing the 1,000-point mark for his career.

McKenna Layden, Northwestern girls basketball

The senior had 24 points, six rebounds and five assists in a 69-24 win over Argos.

Tyler Myers, Evansville Day boys basketball

The senior scored 29 points against Wood Memorial and moved into seventh place on the state's career scoring list.

Sam Orme, Carmel boys basketball

The Belmont recruit scored 23 points in a 46-45 loss to Ben Davis.

Tyler Parrish, Chesterton boys basketball

The junior had 24 points in a 49-47 win over Lake Central.

Jayden Sanders, Evansville Reitz boys basketball

The senior had 24 points in a 76-72 win over Evansville Central.

Cheaney Schoeff, Avon wrestling

A senior, Schoeff won the 138-pound championship at the IHSAA Sectional at Avon, winning 1-0 in the finals, to improve to 33-0 on the season.

Trent Sisley, Heritage Hills boys basketball

The sophomore, who holds multiple Big Ten offers, had a double-double of 27 points and 12 rebounds in a 65-59 loss to South Spencer.

Cole Solomey, Kankakee Valley wrestling

Solomey, a senior, improved to 38-0 on the season after winning the 138-pound title at the IHSAA Sectional at Crown Point.

Ajani Washington, Fort Wayne Concordia boys basketball

The junior scored 29 points in a 63-61 win over Fort Wayne North Side to move into seventh place on the program's career scoring list with 987 points.

Michael Wellman, Portage boys basketball

The sophomore had a double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds in a 63-57 win against Michigan City, and also had 12 points, four assists and four steals in a 64-52 win over Kankakee Valley.
