Fort Wayne North standout Brauntae Johnson commits to Notre Dame

Fort Wayne North Side football prospect pledges to Irish

Fort Wayne North Side standout Brauntae Johnson announced his commitment to Notre Dame on Saturday morning.

In April, Johnson had narrowed down his list of schools to 10: Colorado, Louisville, Miami, Purdue, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Missouri, Penn State, Cincinnati and Tennessee.

The 6-foot-3, 180-pounder, who plays wide receiver and free safety, is a four-star prospect ranked as the No. 161 player nationally in the Class of 2024 by 247Sports and the No. 168 player nationally by the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Johnson, who is ranked by 247Sports as the third-best prospect in Indiana, is expected to play free safety at Notre Dame and joins Hamilton Southeastern offensive tackle Styles Prescod as Indiana prospects who have pledged to the Fighting Irish.

As a junior, Johnson caught 69 passes for 1,081 yards and 16 touchdowns in 10 games and was credited with 23 tackles along with a blocked field goal.
