SBLive Iowa Top 25 softball rankings: Undefeated teams are few and far between

Only five undefeated teams are left in this week’s rankings after two weeks of the season.

The unbeaten teams are starting to dwindle after the second week of the Iowa softball season, but the ones who are remaining made big jumps in this week’s rankings.

A look at the Top 25 after Week 2:

1. Davenport Assumption (9-1)

Assumption split with Muscatine, then won four games in the Iowa City West tournament.

2. North Linn (9-0)

North Linn swept Midland in its only doubleheader of the week.

3. ADM (10-0)

ADM picked up four wins last week, including three by one run

4. Mount Vernon (11-1)

Mount Vernon’s only loss of the week was to Norwalk. Mount Vernon plays host to Williamsburg on Monday.

5. Clear Creek-Amana (10-0)

The Clippers stayed undefeated, winning six games last week.

6. Fort Dodge (8-2)

The Dodgers swept Ankeny Centennial and split with Waukee Northwest.

7. Johnston (8-1)

The Lady Dragons split with Southeast Polk to open the week.

8. Linn-Mar (9-0)

Seven of Linn-Mar’s wins have been by shutout this season.

9. Waukee Northwest (7-2)

Waukee Northwest split with Fort Dodge, then lost two of three games in the Valley Shootout.

10. Iowa City Liberty (12-2)

Liberty split a doubleheader with Williamsburg, lost to Iowa City Regina in 10 innings in the Iowa City West tournament.

11. Winterset (8-2)

A busy week included a shutout of Waukee.

12. Central Springs (6-0)

The Panthers’ week included a win over Ankeny Centennial.

13. Muscatine (9-1)

The Muskies’ only loss of the season was in a split of a doubleheader to Assumption last week.

14. Lisbon (10-1)

The Lions haven’t lost since the season-opening defeat to Mount Vernon.

15. Williamsburg (10-2)

Williamsburg split with Iowa City Liberty last week.

16. North Union (9-1)

North Union’s only loss of the week was to Newell-Fonda.

17. Ankeny Centennial (7-4)

Fort Dodge swept Centennial in a doubleheader.

18. Wayne (9-1)

Wayne’s only loss of the season was to Twin Cedars.

19. West Des Moines Valley (7-3)

Valley swept Dowling to start the week but lost to Ankeny Centennial and Indianola.

20. Northeast (8-1)

Northeast won all four games last week. Its only loss was to Iowa City Liberty.

21. West Burlington-Notre Dame (8-1)

West Burlington lost to Albia on Saturday to snap an eight-game winning streak.

22. Newell-Fonda (12-2)

The Mustangs own a 10-game winning streak.

23. Southeast Warren (6-2)

Southeast Warren lost to Martensdale-St. Mary’s on Saturday.

24. Twin Cedars (8-1)

Twin Cedars has won eight consecutive after loss to Wayne in the opener.

25. Van Meter (10-3)

Van Meter’s only loss of the week was to ADM.
