Tate Allen, Fairfield football

The senior QB passed for 246 yards on just seven completions – five to paydirt – and ran for 143 yards and a TD as the Trojans crushed West Burlington 53-7.

Graham Beckman, Iowa City Liberty football

The junior QB passed for 307 yards and six touchdowns to lead the Lightning to a 68-6 win over Mount Pleasant.

Madison Brouwer, Sibley-Ocheyedan girls cross country

Brouwer avenged a loss at Sioux Central to No. 2 (Class 1A) Nora Peterson (Alta-Aurelia) with a win (18:40.68) at the Alta-Aurelia Invitational, seven seconds faster than Brouwer. It was the fourth win of the season for the third-ranked (1A) senior who was last year’s 2A state runner-up.

Bennett Brueck, Indianola football

The senior QB passed for 402 yards and four TDs and ran for one as well as the Indians won a shootout over Norwalk 45-33 in the battle of Warren County.

Rowan Carlson, Tripoli football

The senior QB passed for two TDs and 133 yards and had a huge night on the ground, running for 253 yards and six scores as the Panthers improved to 5-1 with a 62-24 victory over West Central.

Jaxon Cherry, Webster City football

The Lynx got 332 yards rushing and all four touchdowns from the junior running back, who also had 6.5 tackles, to win 28-7 over LeMars.

Ty Cozad, Muscatine football

The junior broke his own school record, rushing for 450 yards and five touchdowns in the Muskies’ 42-31 win over Dubuque Hempstead. Earlier this year he ran for 372 yards against Bettendorf.

Patrick Daugherty, Greene County football

The senior running back rushed for 259 yards and three touchdowns as the Rams improved to 5-1 with a 34-23 win over Red Oak.

Addison Dorenkamp, West Des Moines Valley girls cross country

Just a junior and Class 4A’s top-ranked runner, Dorenkamp was timed in a blazing 17:40.92 to win the Gray division at Wartburg,.

Bevin Doll, ADM football

The junior caught seven passes for 162 yards and one TD and also rushed for 105 yards and two scores.

Lily Dykstra, Urbandale volleyball

The senior has a team-high 353 kills (31.8%) and 33 blocks on the season for the J-Hawks.

Aiden Flora, ADM football

The junior quarterback had 290 passing yards and two touchdowns and 108 rushing yards and another score in the battle of unbeatens as the Class 3A second-ranked Tigers’ 38-7 beat Creston.

Caleb Garnand, Lawton-Bronson football

The junior wide receiver caught 16 passes for 224 yards and two touchdowns in a loss to Tri-Center.

Aubrey Gates, Union volleyball

The senior has 311 kills (36.2%), leading the Knights to a 28-3 record, including 5-0 last week.

Drake Gelhaus, Cedar Falls football

The 195-pound junior carried 38 times for 184 yards and two touchdowns as the Tigers handed Cedar Rapids Kennedy its first loss of the season, 23-16.

Grant Glausser, Western Dubuque football

The junior carried 23 times for 220 yards and four touchdowns as the Bobcats downed Decorah, 38-22.

Andy Henson, West Branch football

The senior rushed for 216 yards and four touchdowns as West Branch remained unbeaten with a 49-13 win over Durant.

Landon Hochstein, Norwalk football

The senior QB passed for 352 yards and two TDs and ran for 69 yards and two scores in a wild 45-33 loss to Indianola.

Katelyn Johnston, Osage girls cross country

The senior from Osage, who’s ranked second in Class 2A, emerged as the winner in the Varsity Orange division in a prestigious meet at Warburg College. Her sixth win of the season, Johnston’s 18:38.87 time was 32 seconds faster than the runner-up.

Mitchell Johnson, Independence football

Johnson passed for 133 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 158 yards and another score as the Class 3A eighth-ranked Mustangs picked up a 21-7 win over Hampton-Dumont.

Drew Kingery, Indianola football

The senior hauled in 11 passes for 235 yards and three touchdowns in the Indians’ triumph over Norwalk.

Alyssa Klein, Western Dubuque girls cross country

Klein, 26th-ranked in Class 3A, was tested at the Western Dubuque Invite and successfully passed, posting her first victory of the season against four state-ranked 2A runners, two coming from meet winner Monticello. Timed in 20:36, Klein is a returning 3A state qualifier.

J.J. Kohl, Ankeny football

The senior and Iowa State recruit totaled 249 passing yards and two touchdowns and 70 rushing yards and another score in the No. 2 Hawks’ 34-24 win over West Des Moines Valley.

Kayla Knowles, Denver volleyball

The senior is the Cyclones’ leader with 416 kills (5.2 avg.) and digs with 187. Denver is 26-7 on the season.

Gavin Kramer, Northeast (Goose Lake) football

The super sophomore QB passed for 198 yards and five touchdowns and ran 23 times for 219 yards.

Ethan Loutzenheiser, Madrid boys cross country

The junior cruised to his fourth victory of the season, timed in 16:24.08 while winning the Ogden Invitational. It was the fastest time of the campaign for the Tigers’ standout, who is ranked second in 1A.

Dylan Marti, North Scott football

The senior rushed for 155 yards on only six carries, scoring four touchdowns in the Lancers’ 46-7 win over Burlington.

Caden McDermott, Pleasant Valley football

The senior quarterback passed for two touchdowns and ran for two more as the unbeaten Spartans pounded rival Bettendorf, 44-14.

Ty Mikkelsen, Dallas Center-Grimes football

The junior QB passed for 284 yards and four TDs, completing 19 of 25, in the Mustangs’ 48-0 triumph over Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson.

Connor Moberly, Southeast Polk football

The junior quarterback passed for 240 yards and three touchdowns, going 15 of 19, and ran for another score as the defending Class 5A state champs rolled past Linn-Mar 49-27.

Gabe Nash, Sioux City North boys cross country

The senior won his second meet of the season, timed in 16:17.08 during the South Sioux City (Neb.) Invitational. Nash, who later in the week took third (15:24.4) in the Gray Division at Wartburg is ranked 13th in Class 4A and led the No. 15 Stars to a first-place 23 points in the Class A division of the meet.

Asa Newsom, Waverly-Shell Rock football

The senior and had 163 total yards on just eight touches as the Go-Hawks moved to 6-0 with a 42-7 victory over Marion.

Preston Ries, Monticello

The junior was 22-for-27 for 320 yards passing and four touchdowns as the Panthers beat Camanchem 48-12.

Joey Rhomberg, Mount Vernon football

The junior QB passed for 252 yards and three touchdowns and ran for a score as the unbeaten Mustangs rode to a 42-17 win over Davenport Assumption.

Camryn Sattler, Jr., Clinton boys cross country

Sattler won her first meet of the season, clocked in 20:30.0 as the River Queens scored 32 points while winning the Iowa City West Invitational. A two-time individual Class 4A state qualifier, the unranked Sattler was one of three Clinton Top 5 runners.

Dallas Sauser, Ames football

The senior completed 24-of-31 for 281 yards and four touchdowns as the Little Cyclones beat Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln 42-13. Sauser is the state’s leading passer with 2,133 yards in just six games.

Hunter Smith, Waukee Northwest football

The junior defensive end recorded two sacks, including a forced fumble, and blocked a punt as the Wolves beat Sioux City East 17-7.

Mitchell Smith, West Hancock football

The junior quarterback rushed for 147 yards and two touchdowns and added two more TD passes in the undefeated and second-ranked (Class A) Eagles’ 31-18 win over Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn. Smith also recorded nine tackles on defense.

Trenton Smith, Ankeny Centennial football

The Jaguars’ QB completed 18-of-25 passes for 241 yards and four touchdowns in a 28-23 win over Urbandale.

Jaxon Smolik, W.D.M. Dowling football

The senior and Penn State recruit completed 21-of-29 passes for 235 yards and a touchdown in the Maroons’ 42-19 win over Johnston.

Makelle Taylor, Cedar Rapids Prairie football

The senior scored three touchdowns and accounted for 180 of the Hawks’ 362 rushing yards in a 45-14 triumph over Waterloo West.

Michael Turner, Tri-Center (Neola) football

The senior workhorse RB carried 46 times for 380 yards and five touchdowns in the Trojans’ 34-19 win over Lawton-Bronson.

Abby VerBurg, Hull Western Christian volleyball

The senior has pounded out 301 kills, leading the Wolfpack to their sixth straight win and a 26-4 record.

Ford Washburn, Iowa City High boys cross country

Coming off a third-place finish at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn., the second-ranked (Class 4A) senior blazed to an outstanding 14:50.58 while taking first place and leading the No. 5 Little Hawks to the title at the City High Invitational. It was Washburn’s third title of the season.

Megan Wheatley, North Linn girls cross country

Another of the state’s huge high school meets of the week was the Jesup Invitational, which in the girls division involved 20 teams. The No. 4 (Class 1A) junior posted her fourth victory of the season, clocked in 18:49.9, seven seconds faster than No. 6 (2A) Mackenzie Wilson of Jesup.

Dylan Wiggins, West Sioux football

The senior quarterback completed 16 of 21 passes for two touchdowns and rushed for 47 yards and two more touchdowns in the Class A fifth-ranked Falcons’ 35-0 win over Ridge View.

Emily Williams, East Mills volleyball

The senior has hammered down 362 kills (35.3%) and has 337 digs on the season for the Wolverines (24-7).

Miles Wilson, Cedar Rapids Kennedy boys cross country

Class 4A’s third-ranked runner, the senior was pushed as he defeated three Class 3A state-ranked opponents with a first-place 15:45.0 at the Western Dubuque Invitational. Wilson has been clocked under 16 minutes three times during his five victories this season.
