How SBLive’s Top 25 Iowa high school football teams fared in Week 8

1. West Des Moines Dowling (7-1) beat No. 14 West Des Moines Valley 35-3
Penn State commit Jaxon Smolik was 11 for 14 for 177 yards and two TDs in the first half, as Dowling rolled up 304 total yards before the break and led 28-3.
2. Ankeny (7-1) beat No. 20 Waukee Northwest 31-7
Reid Johnson returned a pick for a score, while JJ Kohl ran for a touchdown and passed for another as the Hawks led 21-0 at the intermission.
3. Southeast Polk (7-1) beat No. 24 Ankeny Centennial 42-16
Abu Sama ran for three touchdowns and the Rams led 28-10 after three quarters en route to the victory.
4. Pleasant Valley (8-0) beat Dubuque Senior 49-7
Caden McDermott passed for two touchdowns and ran for two more as the Spartans remained perfect.
5. Cedar Rapids Xavier (8-0) beat Newton 42-3
Ronan Thomas accounted for five touchdowns and the Saints made it five straight games without allowing a touchdown.
6. Waverly-Shell Rock (8-0) beat No. 15 Western Dubuque 35-14
McCrae Hagarty carried 18 times for 233 yards and four scores, and Asa Newsom rushed six times for 134 and a touchdown, as the Go-Hawks pulled away from a 7-7 halftime deadlock.
7. Council Bluffs Lewis Central (8-0) beat Dallas Center-Grimes 41-0
Titans led 35-0 at the half as QB Braylon Kammrad accounted for three touchdowns.
8. Harlan Community (7-1) beat Creston 56-12
Cyclones met little resistance from Creston, rolling up a 35-6 lead after a quarter-and-a-half.
9. Central Lyon/George-Little Rock (8-0) beat Okoboji 62-6
Lions led 21-0 four minutes into the game and had only run one offensive play at the time.
10. Williamsburg (8-0) beat Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont 76-21
The Raiders led 63-6 at the intermission and the clock ran the rest of the way.
11. Mount Vernon (8-0) beat DeWitt Central 47-0
Henry Ryan ran for four touchdowns as the Mustangs remained unbeaten on the season.
12. Humboldt (7-1) lost to Nevada 16-8
Cason Stevenson’s 12-yard TD run early in the fourth staked Nevada to a 16-0 lead.
13. Spirit Lake (8-0) beat Southeast Valley 24-6
Class 2-A Indians completed an unbeaten regular season with a hard-fought victory.
14. West Des Moines Valley (4-3) lost to No. 1 West Des Moines Dowling 35-3
Valley’s defense couldn’t slow the Maroons. They allowed 447 total yards in the contest.
15. Western Dubuque (5-3) lost to No. 6 Waverly-Shell Rock 35-14
A 7-7 game at the half, the Bobcats’ rush defense couldn’t hold up, as they allowed 437 yards.
16. Iowa City Liberty (7-1) beat Burlington 29-28
Caden Schisel rushed for 132 yards and Burlington led 14-0 at the half, but Liberty rallied for the victory.
17. Carlisle (7-1) beat Norwalk 49-28
Wildcats will receive a forfeit next week, and thus claimed the Class 4-A, District 5 title with the win.
18. North Scott (6-2) beat Fort Madison 49-14
Kyler Gerardy’s fourth touchdown run of the game gave the Lancers a 42-7 lead midway through the third quarter.
19. Cedar Falls (6-2) beat Bettendorf 10-7
Tate Hermansen threw for 119 yards and Drake Gelhaus ran for 87 as the Tigers won a slugfest.
20. Waukee Northwest (4-4) lost to No. 2 Ankeny 31-7
The Wolves ran the ball 26 times for only 44 yards, preventing its offense from staying on the field.
21. Urbandale (5-3) lost to Waukee 30-7
Max Bartachek’s 43-yard field goal as time expired in the first half sent Waukee skipping to the locker room with a 17-0 lead.
22. Cedar Rapids Kennedy (6-2) lost to Johnston 28-7
Sophomore Will Nuss threw four TD passes, three to TE Jacob Simpson, as Johnston notched an impressive victory.
23. West Branch (8-0) beat Wilton 54-7
Tye Hughes completed 10 of 13 for 244 yards and two scores for the Bears.
24. Ankeny Centennial (4-4) lost to No. 3 Southeast Polk 42-16
Jaguars entered the night eighth in the 5-A RPI, but missed an opportunity to secure the playoff ticket.
25. Linn-Mar (5-3) beat Davenport Central 72-0
Carter Henderson rushed for 116 yards and three touchdowns, and the Lions led 51-0 at the half.
