Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Iowa high school athlete of the week for May 8-14. Read through the nominees and cast your vote. Voting will conclude Sunday at 11:59 p.m. If you would like to make a nomination in a future week, email nate@scorebooklive.com

Addie Berg, Cedar Rapids Prairie girls golf

The Hawk senior shot a 74 to win the MVC Divisional – Mississippi meet at Meadows Golf Club.She then carded a 67 to finish second in the CR Prairie Invitational behind Linn-Mar Morgan Rupp’s round of 63, which is the lowest in Iowa this season.

Chloe Bolte, Sumner-Fredericksburg girls golf

Bolte shot the best round among 1A and 2A girls golfers during the 2A Region 3B meet at the New Hampton Country Club Friday. She carded a 73 to win the meet by six strokes and help Sumner-Fredericksburg advance to the Region 2 final at the Carroll Municipal Golf Course.

Alexis Boord, SE Polk girls track

The Ram senior ran the fifth fastest 200-meter dash time in the state this year, clocking in at 25.10 in the regional meet in Norwalk.

Caden Branum, Decorah boys tennis

The Viking junior went 4-0 in Position One action, posting four straight set wins in district tennis qualifier at Luther College. He is now 16-0 in No. 1 singles play.

Audi Crooks, Bishop Garrigan girls field

The Iowa State basketball recruit unleashed the best shot put in the state with a toss of 44 feet, 5.5 inches in Emmetsburg.

Jaden Damiano, Iowa Falls-Alden boys track

Damiano turned in the best 2A qualifying time in the 110 high hurdles and second-fastest 400 hurdle effort during Iowa Falls-Alden's qualifying meet. Damiano's time in the 110 highs was 14.43. His 54.75 effort in the 400 hurdles is just behind the 54.74 qualifying time by Van Buren's Anthony Duncan.

Sophia Fain, Waterloo Columbus Catholic girls tennis

The senior steamrolled the competition, going 4-0 in match play in No. 1 singles play in the regional tournament at the Byrnes Park Tennis Center. She also posted straight set wins in dual matches vs. South Hardin and Boone for the 29-0 Sailors.

Duke Faley, Dubuque Wahlert boys field

Faley had the best shot put toss and No. 2 discus throw in 3A during Wahlert's qualifying meet. Faley won the shot put at his qualifying meet with a distance of 56-3.5. His discus throw went 185-5.

Claire Farrell, Norwalk girls track

The Warrior senior had a huge regional meet, with sizzling 100, 200 and 400 times during Norwalk's 4A qualifying meet. Her time of 12.12 is the second fastest time this season in the 100. She ran a 24.79 is fastest in the state in the 200. She also ran the fifth fastest time in the state in the 400, running a 56.96.

Tayden Ferguson, Linn-Mar boys track

The Lion junior ran the fifth fastest 400 in the state in 48.69 and qualified for state.

James Fingalsen, Mason City boys track

The Riverhawk senior clocked a time of 48.47 to qualify for state in the 400 at Linn-Mar, which is the third fastest time in the state.

Grace Gaarde, Iowa City Regina girls soccer

The Regals’ senior scored four girls and had an assist in a 7-0 win over West Branch, then scored all three goals in a 3-1 triumph over Tipton and accounted for all four points in a 4-1 win over Mount Vernon with three goals and an assist. She now has 38 goals, which is second in the state, and five assists.

Reese Goodlet, Pleasant Valley girls field

The Spartan junior turned in the second best discus throw with a heave of 144 feet, 4 inches in the state qualifying meet at Lancer Stadium.

Garrett Ham, Lake Mills boys golf

Ham won medalist for Lake Mills at the 2A sectional boys golf meet held at the Rice Lake Golf and Country Club in Lake Mills. He shot a 69 over 18 holes. He won medalist by four strokes and helped Lake Mills place first as a team and advance to districts with a team score of 311.

Addison Hoben, Spencer girls soccer

The Tiger sophomore had a huge game in a 10-0 victory over MOC Floyd Valley, scoring four goals and dishing out three assists. She leads the state in scoring with 53 goals and points with 126.

Kadence Huck, Nashua-Plainfield girls track

Huck ran the fastest 400 time and second-best 800 and 1,500 times in 1A for Nashua-Plainfield at its qualifying meet.Huck's winning 400 time at Nashua-Plainfield's qualifying meet was 57.71. Her 800 time of 2:23.80 is just behind the 2:23.78 effort by Calamus-Wheatland's Noelle Steins for the best qualifying time in 1A and Huck's 1,500 effort of 4:56.05 only trails Steins' time of 4:51.08.

Aidan Jacobsen, Iowa City West boys track

The Trojan senior clocked the second fastest time in Iowa in the 400 hurdles, running 52.46.

Molly Joyce, Bishop Garrigan girls field

The senior had a long jump of 18 feet 4.25 inches in Emmetsburg, giving her the fifth longest jump in Iowa this season.

Silvana Kabolo, Clear Creek Amana girls track

The Clipper senior ran a 14.86 in the 100 hurdles, giving her the fifth fastest time in Iowa this season last week at the state qualifier in Mount Pleasant.

Jackson Kirsch, Marion boys soccer

The unbeaten 15-0 Wolves continue to roll behind their senior standout. Kirsch leads the state with an incredible 63 goals. Last week he scored eight goals in a 10-0 victory over Independence and hit the back of the net five times in a 6-0 win over Marshalltown.

Chase Lauman, Pella boys track

The Dutch distance runner clocked the fastest time in the state, running the 1600 in 4:09.74 in a home meet last week. He also owns the second fastest 3200 time.

Izaiah Loveless, Iowa City West boys track

The junior ran a sizzling time of 21.53 in the 200 in a state qualifier at Dalzell Field

Juan Mateo, West Liberty boys soccer

The senior scored four goals in a 10-0 win over Anamosa and three times in a 4-3 victory over West Branch for the 13-2 Comets. He has 36 goals on the season, which ranks third in the state.

Karma McMorris, Mason City girls soccer

The sophomore scored four goals in the Riverhawks’ 5-0 win over Des Moines Roosevelt. She has 36 goals on the season – fourth in the state.

Mya Messenger, Cedar Rapids Washington girls golf

The junior had rounds of 74 to finish second in the MVC Divisional 1 – Valley at Pleasant Valley Golf Course and 67 at the Cedar Rapids Prairie Invitational at Airport National Public Golf Course, giving her second-place finishes.

Asa Newsom, Waverly-Shell Rock boys track

The Go-Hawk senior clocked the fifth best 400 hurdles time in 53.74 at the state qualifier at Lyle Leinbaugh Field.

Lanee Olsen, Council Bluffs Lewis Central girls tennis

The Titan senior went undefeated last week, winning all three of her matches in Position One singles action, giving her 19 wins on the season.

Logan Piper, Indianola boys track

The Indian senior ran the 400 hurdles in 53.69 at a state qualifier at Norwalk, giving him the fourth fastest time in the state this season.

Morgan Rupp, Linn-Mar girls golf

The Lion sophomore carded a 72 to win the MVC Divisional 1 – Valley meet at Pleasant Valley Golf Course and followed by shooting a 63 at the Cedar Rapids Prairie Invitational at Airport National Public Golf Course. Her 63 is the lowest score in the state this season.

Shay Sinnard, Carroll girls field

Sinnard turned in an outstanding effort in the girls long jump for Carroll at its 3A qualifying meet, winning with a jump of 18 feet, 6.75 inches. That distance is the best in 3A.

Brock Snyder, Gilbert boys golf

The Tiger senior has the lowest score in the state this year with a 64. He had a solid week, winning two meets – firing a 68 at Raccoon River Conference Meet at Ames Golf and Country Club and a 70 at 3A Sectional at Carroll Country Club.

Baylor Speidel, Lisbon girls track

Speidel has the second best 100 and 200 qualifying times in 1A and he also helped Lisbon to the No. 2 4x200 effort and No. 3 4x100 showing during the Lions' qualifying meet. Speidel's times in the 100 and 200 are 10.87 and 22.24 respectively.

Catherine Straus, Spirit Lake girls tennis

The Indians’ senior dominated the field at the regional tournament at Riverview Tennis Courts in Spencer. She won all five matches to win the region, outscoring her opponents 60-3, winning all but three sets 6-0. She is now 19-2 in Position One match play this season.

Addisyn Terpstra, Newton girls track

The Cardinal senior ran the third fastest 100 hurdles time of 14.74 in the state last week at Pella

Hillary Trainor, Sumner-Fredericksburg girls track

Trainor ran the best qualifying 1,500 and 3,000 times in 2A for Sumner-Fredericksburg at its qualifying meet. Trainor won the 1,500 4:49.53 and her 3,000 time is 10:34.38.

Kaitlyn Zugay, Ballard girls tennis

The Bomber sophomore won all three matches last week to give her 20 wins on the season.
