Early National Signing Day 2023: A complete list of Iowa high school football D-1 signees

Everybody loves National Signing Day, as the decisions of youth football athletes around the country shape the future of your favorite program. 

Below is a list of Iowa FBS and FCS players who signed. If we missed anyone, please email nate@scorebooklive.com

RB - Kaden Amigon, Columbus

Amigon will be looking to earn carries out of the Northern Iowa backfield after rushing for 1,860 with 28 touchdowns last year. He averaged 12.5 yards per carry and also had four catches for 41 yards and another score. Amigon could also be key on special teams after averaging nearly 30 yards per kickoff return and 27 on four punt returns.

RB - Brevin Doll, Adel-ADM

Before an injury ended his senior season, Doll had racked up 347 yards and four scores on just 40 carries, catching six more passes for 116 yards and two TDs.

DE - Drew Campbell, Cedar Falls

Campbell will go from being a Tiger to a Hawkeye after recording 64.5 tackles with 21.5 for loss and six sacks.

LB - Derek Weisskopf, Williamsburg

Weisskopf stepped in and did it all for the Raiders, throwing, rushing and catching touchdowns. He had 14 receptions for 212 yards with four scores and also had 58.5 tackles with 50 solo stops on defense where he picked off four passes.

OL - Cody Fox, East Buchanan

An elite force in the trenches, Fox helped East Buchanan rush for over 3,300 yards while recording 62.5 tackles with nine for loss and four sacks from the interior of the defense.

LB - Preston Ries, Monticello

Another player who shined all over the field in high school, Ries is coming off a productive career that left him ranked among the top passers in the state. He had over 2,500 yards and 25 TDs in the air with nearly 2,000 yards and 33 scores on the ground. Ries also recorded 97 tackles with 27.5 for loss and five sacks.

LB - Cam Buffington, Winfield-Mt Union

An injury in the playoffs caused Buffington to slow down, as he was a force prior to that. He had 1,362 yards rushing with 25 touchdowns, adding 613 yards receiving and 11 more scores. On defense, Buffington tallied 106.5 tackles, including 80 solo stops, with four sacks and 18.5 for loss.

WR - Reece Vander Zee, Central Lyon/George-Little Rock

Mr. Do-It-All, Vander Zee will look to contribute at wide receiver for the Hawkeyes. He finished last year with almost 1,300 yards passing, over 1,700 yards rushing and had 41.5 tackles on defense.

QB - Connor Moblery, Southeast Polk

A two-time state champion, Moberly shined for the Rams, earning captain status for Class 5A. He completed 67 percent of his passes for over 2,400 yards with 26 touchdowns and just three interceptions, adding 222 yards and six scores on the ground.

TE - Keaton Roskop, Linn-Mar

Roskop suffered a torn ACL earlier in the season, but is enrolling early at Iowa State to continue his rehab.

LB - Beau Goodwin, Kingsley-Pierson

Goodwin had over 2,200 yards and 26 touchdowns on offense this past year with the Cyclones moving him to focus on defense where he had 84.5 tackles with 5.5 sacks and 10.5 stops for loss along with seven turnovers and a TD.

OL - Garret Rutledge, Lewis Central

An All-Iowa Elite team member, Rutledge helped the Titans win a state title while averaging over 400 yards of offense per game.

OL - Jake Peters, Cedar Falls

Peters is part of one of the top recruiting classes in the nation at Nebraska, joining fellow Iowan Grant Brix to form what could be a strong duo along the offensive line.

OL - Grant Brix, Logan-Magnolia

The top recruit in the state, Brix will head west and join a strong class at Nebraska for Matt Rhule. His primary job will be helping protect the quarterback while opening up holes for the running game.

TE - Jacob Simpson, Johnston

Not many could contain Simpson, as he caught 43 passes for 688 yards with 10 touchdowns this past season.

OL - Kyle Rakers, West Des Moines Dowling

Rakers has been a staple in helping the Dowling offense remain one of the top units in the state year after year after year.

RB - Titus Cram, Bondurant-Farrar

An injury shortened his senior season, but Cram still had 1,238 yards rushing and 17 touchdowns while adding almost 200 yards and three more scores in the passing game.

P - Drew Miller, Mediapolis

One of the top punters in the country, Miller will join the SEC and remain a Bulldog. He had 30 punts for an average of 49.5 yards this past year, making 40 of 42 extra-points and 3 of 5 field goals.

TE - Carson Bruhn, Sioux Center

Bruhn concluded his senior season with 22 receptionsf or 258 yards and four touchdowns and was also a force on defense with four sacks and 10 tackles for loss.

DL - Tono Cornell, Iowa City High

A first team all-district and second team all-conference pick, Cornell was a mainstay along the defensive front for City High.

LB - Connor Kayser, Ankeny

Kayer recorded 60 solo tackles, 4.5 sacks and was named the district defensive most valuable player this past year.

WR - Karson Elwood, Treynor

Elwood caught 61 passes for almost 900 yards with 13 touchdowns, averaging 14.6 yards per reception for the Cardinals. He also posted 24 yards per kickoff return and 16.5 yards per punt return.

DL - Aidan Salow, Maquoketa Valley

Salow was one of the top sack artists in the state this past fall, earning all-state first team honors from the Des Moines Register and more. He had 10.5 sacks, 22 tackles for loss and 80 stops overall.

DL - Franz Reisz, Harlan

From the famed hallways of the Cyclones, Reisz will bring plenty of key attributes to the Panthers after locking up second team all-state and first team all-district honors.

WR - Ben Gordon, Van Meter

Gordon was a vital piece to the incredible success for the Bulldogs, helping them win multiple state championships. He finished second in the state in all-purpose yards.

OL - Parker Thomas, Sheldon

Thomas helped the Orabs in the trenches, securing all-state honors through multiple outlets as a senior.

OL - Landen Kuennen, Waukee Northwest

Kuennen was an all-state selection for the Wolves and twice named all-district.

TE - Brady McDonald, Independence

McDonald concluded his prep career with 40 receptions for 328 yards and four touchdowns, earning all-district status three times.

DB - Brock Carpenter, Western Dubuque

An all-state first team selection, Carpenter was a threat anytime he touched the ball, returning three punts for touchdowns while averaging almost 31 yards per return.
