Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Louisiana high school athlete of the week for Jan. 30-Feb. 5. Read through the nominees and cast your vote. AC Froehlich, St. Thomas More girls basketball

The 6-foot-1 senior forward, who has signed to play college volleyball at LSU, scored her 1,000th career point in the Cougars' 71-12 win against Westgate on Friday. She also scored 18 points in her team's 67-34 win over North Vermilion on Jan. 30.

De'Vion Lavergne, North Central boys basketball

The 6-foot-3 senior point guard scored his 1,500th career point last week for the reigning Class 1A state champion Hurricanes, who took down Sacred Heart (84-52), Catholic-Pointe Coupee (97-60) and Ville Platte (89-70).

Jeremiah Lewis, Ponchatoula boys basketball

Lewis, a 6-foot junior guard, had 26 points as the Green Wave handed Madison Prep only its second loss of the year at the Charger Classic in Scotlandville. Ponchatoula (23-6) has won seven straight with four regular season games remaining.

Trevon Jackson, Airline boys basketball

Jackson scored 16 points as the Vikings edged Captain Shreve in overtime, 61-58, on Jan. 31; then was one of three players with 18 points in a win against crosstown rival Parkway on Friday.

Brian Wahl, Haynes Academy boys soccer

Wahl, a junior, scored four goals in the 11th-seeded Yellow Jackets' 5-0 first-round playoff win against No. 22 Sterlington.

Jamal Drewery, Scotlandville boys basketball

The 5-foot-10 sophomore scored 23 points with seven 3-pointers in the 26-2 Hornets' 80-56 win against Central-Baton Rouge.

Saniyah Simo, Loyola girls soccer

Simo scored three goals and added an assist in her team’s 8-0 win against Rapides in the opening round of the Division IV playoffs.

Jayce Depron, Madison Prep boys basketball

In the Chargers’ 74-56 win against East Feliciana on Jan. 31, Depron set two school records as he scored 41 points and made nine 3-pointers, going 9-of-11 from beyond the arc.

Desamonte Gradney, Iowa boys basketball

Gradney scored 15 points, including a game-winning layup with eight-tenths of a second left as the Yellow Jackets capped a game-ending 12-3 run with a 59-58 win Thursday against Lake Charles College Prep.

Jackson Avery/Jenna McNamara, St. Louis boys/girls soccer

Both Avery and McNamara registered a hat trick along with an assist in St. Louis’ opening-round Division III playoff wins. Avery had his hat trick in the Saints’ 8-0 win against Union Parish, while McNamara had her hat trick in an 8-0 win against Morgan City.

Maddy Ryan, Benton girls basketball

Ryan, a senior, scored 22 points to pace the 19-10 Tigers to a 66-36 win against Captain Shreve in a District 1-5A road game.

Jay Treadway, Ouachita Parish powerlifting

Treadway, a 5-10, 202-pound senior, broke the regional powerlifting record with a 600-pound squat.

Kenneth Montgomery, Zwolle boys basketball

Montgomery poured in 30 points on Thursday as the Hawks claimed an 85-46 win against Florien.

Garrett Humphrey, Hamilton Christian boys basketball

Humphrey had 27 points and made seven 3’s as Hamilton recorded an 85-61 win against Elton on Friday.

Jayden Easter, Booker T. Washington-Shreveport boys basketball

Easter scored 31 points in his team’s 70-45 win against Minden on Friday.

Jamaria Clark, Doyline boys basketball

Clark scored 35 points on Friday in the Panthers’ 85-52 win against Weston.

Kylei LeBlanc, LaGrange girls basketball

LeBlanc had a double-double of 18 points and 17 rebounds as the Lady Gators extended their district winning streak to 30 straight games after a 65-39 win against Rayne on Jan. 31. That streak ended Friday with a 53-46 loss to Leesville, although LeBlanc had another double-double of 25 points and 13 boards.

Deniya Thornton, St. Amant girls basketball

Thornton had 12 of her 16 points in the second half to help her team to a 51-48 win Thursday against rival Dutchtown. She also had six steals and blocked four shots.

The Timmons Brothers, Hannan boys basketball

In a 69-42 win Friday against Lakeshore, Luke Timmons recorded his 1,000th career point. His brother, Drew Timmons, had a team-high 20 points in the win.

The Sinon Sisters, Hannan girls basketball

Hannan also had a pair of siblings turn in outstanding performances in the girls game on Friday, a 45-37 win against Lakeshore. Morgan Sinon had nine of her team-high 13 points in the fourth quarter, while sister McKenna Sinon had all eight of her points in the second half.

Mikaylah Manley, Barbe girls basketball

The 5-9 senior guard led the 23-4 Buccaneers with 24 points in a 72-47 District 3-5A win at Carencro.

Hope Tucker, Sterlington girls basketball

Tucker scored 14 points, including a game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer, to help the Lady Panthers to a 47-46 win Friday against Union Parish. She also had four assists and five rebounds in the win.

Jonathan Bradshaw, Ouachita boys basketball

Bradshaw scored a team-high 24 points to help power the Lions past Ruston, 62-52, on Friday.

Turner Duncan, St. Augustine boys basketball

Duncan had 23 points, one of four Purple Knights in double figures, as St. Augustine avenged an earlier loss to John Curtis with a 78-56 win on Friday.

Coco Goldenberg, Metairie Park Country Day girls soccer

Goldenberg had the game’s only goal, coming late in the opening half, as Country Day edged St. Charles, 1-0, in the first round of the Division IV playoffs on Friday.

Dekedric Bowles, Pineville boys basketball

Bowles averaged 16 points, 8.5 rebounds and 4.5 steals to help the Rebels go 2-0 this week against Ouachita and Alexandria. Against the Lions, Bowles had a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Rony Carcamo, Bossier boys soccer

Carcamo registered a hat trick and had an assist in the Bearkats’ 7-1 win against Livingston in the opening round of the Division III playoffs.

Erick Zuniga, Sulphur boys soccer

The Tors’ goalkeeper came up with six saves to preserve a shutout win for his team, as Sulphur claimed a 3-0 win against Benton in the opening round of the Division I playoffs.

Alex Knight, Captain Shreve girls soccer

Knight scored three goals and had an assist in the Lady Gators' 5-0 opening-round Division I playoff win against Thibodaux.

Jalen Brown, Avoyelles Charter boys basketball

Brown exploded for 33 points and 8 steals in the Vikings' 77-41 win against Rapides. Brown also shot 14-for-19 from the floor.

Justin Burns, Peabody boys basketball

Burns averaged 18 points, 14 rebounds and 3 blocks to help the Warhorses go 1-1 on the week.

Addison Fruge, Rosepine girls basketball

The East Texas Baptist commit scored 25 points and dished five assists in a 74-65 win against Menard.

Carly Meynard, Menard girls basketball

Meynard averaged 15 points and 19 rebounds per game to guide the Lady Eagles to a 1-1 week. In a loss to Rosepine, Meynard narrowly missed out on a 20-20 game by tallying 18 points and 24 rebounds.

Lauren Roberts, Alexandria girls track

Roberts' clearance of 11 feet and 7 3/4 inches helped her win the pole vault at the LSU Last Chance Qualifier.

Marley Richard, Destrehan girls track

Richard claimed first place in two events at the LSU Last Chance Qualifier, winning both the long jump (18-5 1/4) and the triple jump (38-11).

Dennis Ra’hji, Edna Karr boys track

In one of the more entertaining events of the LSU Last Chance Qualifier, Ra’hji took the 60-meter dash in a time of 6.86, narrowly edging out Holy Cross’ Krosse Johnson, who finished with a time of 6.87.

Rhen Langley, Zachary boys track

Langley, an LSU signee, set a second indoor record at the LSU Last Chance Qualifier after winning the 3,200 meters in a time of 9:16.10.

Cali Deal, Quitman girls basketball

Deal scored 31 points in the Wolverines’ 66-58 win against Castor on Friday.

Cedric Stanford, Bolton boys basketball

Stanford averaged 20.5 points and five rebounds as the Bears went 2-0 on the week.

Lamiyah Sanchez, Hathaway girls basketball

Sanchez led her team with 22 points as Hathaway clinched the 6-B district title after a 79-34 win Friday against Lacassine.
