Liberty Magnet senior Howard Gaskins Jr. voted SBLive's Louisiana High School Athlete of the Week
Gaskins helps Patriots claim East Baton Rouge Parish Tournament championship
Following Christmas, Liberty Magnet took part in the East Baton Rouge Parish Tournament.
The Patriots won the tournament title, defeating Scotlandville, 72-62, in the final. One reason was the play of Howard Gaskins Jr., a 6-foot-2 senior.
Gaskins scored 26 points, highlighted by a stretch where he accounted for seven straight points. Following the tournament title, Liberty improved to 10-1 and ranked No. 4 in the Division I select power ratings, while Gaskins was leading the Patriots in scoring with 14.5 points per game.
For his efforts, Gaskins was voted the SBLive Louisiana High School Athlete of the Week for Dec. 25-31.
