Scott Flagg steps down as head football coach at Brewer (Maine)

Flagg leaves the program after nearly four seasons at the helm

After four seasons at the helm of the Brewer High School football program, Scott Flagg is deciding to step away.

According to Chris Popper of 92.9 The Ticket, Flagg has stepped down as the head coach at Brewer. The team finished 1-8 last season.

Down below is a statement from the school’s athletic director David Utterback via the report.

Coach Flagg was what Brewer High School Football needed, which was a familiar and safe figure. A voice that team members could trust in the huddle, With so much uncertainly swirling around the student-athletes and their families through the pandemic-era of sports, Coach Flagg was a reliable sound board and resource and we thank him for his leadership in that time.”

Per a report by the Bangor Daily News, the program’s participation numbers went from less than 30 players to more than 55. Flagg, who was formerly the head coach at Hampden Academy, compiled a 6-23 overall record through one pandemic-shortened season and three full campaigns.
