Cooper qualifies for U20 relay pool; Northern-Calvert wins 7v7; Curley's Price to compete in Denmark and more

McDonogh School's Elise Cooper became the only high school athlete to qualify for Team USA's U20 4x1 Relay pool for the Pan-Am Games. She placed third in the 100meters at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals at Franklin Field in Philadelphia with a time of 11.55 and fourth in the 200 meter finals with a time of 23.31. In June, Cooper finished the high school outdoor season with the fifth lowest time in the nation in the 200 meters (22.93).

Northern-Calvert put nice building block in place for its 2023 football season by winning the championship of the Imagine An Athlete (IAA) 7v7 Tournament on Saturday, July 10th at Generals Highway Corridor Park near Annapolis.

Archbishop Curley junior soccer midfielder Casey Price has been selected to compete for the Capelli Sports USA All-Star Team. He will travel to Denmark with the US squad to compete against other nations, July 23-31, in the Capelli Cup.

Earlier this summer the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) honored 18 student-athletes at its 2023 Minds in Motion Scholar-Athlete Scholarship Luncheon, held in the Baltimore Ravens' locker room at M&T Bank Stadium.

Recently, the Fort Hill football team received their 2022 state championship rings, after winning its 9th Maryland state title. The Sentinels topped Mountain Ridge, 16-14, in the Class 1A championship game in December.

Will Roberson and Mason Ritter, both of Catonsville High School were named co-winners of the Catonsville-Arbutus Times Male Athlete of the Year. Roberson, a three-sport star, completed his junior year with a sensation lacrosse season, where he was named All-Baltimore County and honorable mention All-State, in addition to being named to the New Balance All-America Team. He was a starting safety and wide receiver for the Comets' football team and key reserve on the school's boys basketball team.

Baltimore Orioles Hall of Famer Mike Bordick served as the event's guest speaker. Bordick is the Board Chairman of the League of Dreams, a non-profit foundation which provides empowerment for children with disabilities through baseball and softball activities, instructional camps, and after-school events. Representatives of the state's nine districts introduced each of the 18 scholar athletes, which included:
