Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Massachusetts High School Athlete of the Week for May 23-29 as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff. Georgia Costello, Oliver Ames girls lacrosse: Costello scored five goals to lead Oliver Ames to a 17-6 win over Middleboro.

Lily Newhall, St. Mary's softball: Newhall tossed a complete-game shutout with 13 strikeouts in a 12-0 win over Classical.

Shannon Varvistiotis, Abington softball: Varvistiotis went 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs, and tossed five innings with eight strikeouts in Abington's win over Norwell.

Haley McCormack, Tantasqua girls track and field: The freshman won an individual state title in the high jump with a jump of 5-02. 

Reese Hansen, Cohasset girls lacrosse: Hansen scored three goals in a dominant 22-4 win over Pembroke. 

Jake Vana, St. John's Prep boys lacrosse: Vana scored five goals and added three assists in a 13-8 win over Hingham. 

Aiden Donovan, Amesbury baseball: Donovan tossed a six-inning one-hitter and also added two RBIs at the plate in a 6-2 win over Georgetown.

Gavin Thomas, Duxbury boys track and field: Thomas won an individual state title in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.47 at the MIAA Division 3 state championship meet. 

Seamus Vining, Sandwich baseball: Vining had the walk-off bunt to lift Sandwich to a 4-3 win over Marshfield.

Tim Rogers, BC High boys lacrosse: Rogers scored four goals in a 13-5 win over Xaverian.
