Ed Mantie steps down as head coach at Boston College High (Massachusetts)
After three seasons of leading Boston College High's football program, Ed Mantie will no longer roaming the sidelines.
According to the Boston Herald's Danny Ventura, Mantie has stepped down as the head football coach but will remain on staff as a teacher for health and wellness. The Eagles are coming off a 6-5 record from the 2023 campaign.
Mantie finishes up after his best season of the three at Boston College High, ending his tenure with an overall record of 11-21.
Prior to arriving at Boston College High, Mantie was the head coach at Framingham High School from 2017-2020, compiling an overall record of 16-23. In 2018, Mantie led the Flyers to the Bay State title, defeating Natick 14-6.
“I am extremely excited, honored, and humbled to have been selected," Mantie said back in a 2018 release of when he was hired at BC High. "I relish the opportunity to become part of the BC High brotherhood and develop and cultivate meaningful relationships with the program’s young men, past and present. I will strive with passion, enthusiasm, and hard work as together, we take this football program to new heights.”
Before ever becoming a coach, Mantie played his high school ball at Danbury (Connecticut) and leading them to a FCIAC championship in 1990.
