Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Michigan Football Player of the Week for Sept. 26 - Oct. 2, as nominated by SBLive

The following athletes will be included in SBLive's Michigan High School Athlete of the Week poll posted on Tuesday.


Semaj Morgan, West Bloomfield

Senior wide receiver and defensive back Semaj Morgan had himself a day to help West Bloomfield beat Lake Orion, 41-14. Morgan, who filled in for injured quarterback Reqez Nance, threw two passing touchdowns while also returning an interception for a touchdown as well.

Grant Calcagno, Rochester

Senior Grant Calcagno put on a show in Rochester’s 26-6 win over Oak Park. Calcagno finished the game with 155 rushing yards on 16 attempts and one rushing touchdown with five receptions for 113 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.

Brendan Haisenleder, Cardinal Mooney

Senior running back and cornerback Brendan Haisenleder continues to impress, as he has all year, leading Cardinal Mooney past Clarkston Everest, 15-8. Haisenleder finished the game with 148 rushing yards on 28 attempts and two rushing touchdowns. He also compiling 12 total tackles and one interception on the defensive side.

Bryce Underwood, Belleville High School

Sophomore quarterback Bryce Underwood had a huge performance for Belleville in their 56-0 win over John Glenn. Underwood finished the game with five passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown.

Jawon Jarrett, Southfield A&T

Wide receiver Jawon Jarrett put on a show in Southfield A&T’s 49-7 win over Bloomfield Hills. Jarrett finished the game catching 10 receptions for 252 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

Connor Wolf, Grand Rapids Catholic Central

Senior quarterback Connor Wolf had a big performance in Grand Rapids Catholic Central’s 34-36 loss to South Christian. Wolf finished the game completing 26 of his 42 passes for 335 passing yards and three passing touchdowns.

CJ Carr, Saline High School

Junior quarterback and Notre Dame commit CJ Carr had a big performance to lead Saline past Pioneer, 56-0. Carr finished the game with five touchdowns.

Zak Olejniczak, Lapeer High School

Junior quarterback Zak Olejniczak had a huge performance for Lapeer in its 39-17 win over Grand Blanc. Olejniczak finished the game completing eight of his 16 passes for 80 yards and two passing touchdowns, while also rushing for 215 yards and one rushing touchdown.

Devon Pettus, Canton High School

Junior running back Devon Pettus had a great  performance for Canton in their 21-41 loss to Brighton. Pettus finished the game with 165 rushing yards on 19 attempts and two rushing touchdowns.

Tae Boyd, Grand Blanc High School

Senior wide receiver Tae Boyd had a big performance in Grand Blanc’s 17-39 loss to Lapeer. Boyd finished the game catching nine passes for 113 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
