Top Michigan high school football games in week 8
We’re inching our way closer and closer to the end of the regular season and into the playoffs. The season is moving fast. There’s more exciting football this week, so let’s check out this week’s top games!

Frankenmuth (7-0) at Garber (5-2)
Frankenmuth is undefeated, but it has a tough road test this week. Frankenmuth has shown this year that it can be a real threat, but it won’t be easy to get to 8-0.
As for Garber, this is the kind of game that could make or break a season. A 6-2 record with a win over a top-15 team or a 5-3 record without a marquee win. There’s a huge difference.
No. 22 Mona Shores (6-1) at Reeths-Puffer (5-2)
Both of these teams are in almost the exact position that the previous teams were in. Mona Shores is in a really good spot, but it will certainly be put to the test this week. Reeths-Puffer has a great chance to get some momentum going down the stretch of the season if it finds a win here.
Alcona (6-1) at Rogers City (7-0)
Alcona and Rogers City are both having great seasons thus far. As the end of the season looms, it feels like each and every matchup gets harder and harder, especially for an undefeated squad like Rogers City. Rogers City has the home field advantage here, but it should be a tight one throughout.
Houghton Lake (0-7) at Pine River Area (0-6)
As always, a win should be celebrated no matter the circumstances. This week’s battle of the winless teams features Pine River Area and Houghton Lake. One of these teams will get out of the dreadful list of winless teams in the state, while the other will hope to do so the next week.
Corunna (7-1) @ Swartz Creek (6-1)
Corunna and Swartz Creek have a huge matchup this week. Both teams have just one loss as they try to get to the finish line with minimal damage to their record.
One of these teams obviously has to win this one, but it’ll be more of a big win for that team than a bad loss for the other. We’ll see who wants that big win more.
Franklin (7-0) at No. 1 Belleville (7-0)
Belleville has cruised so far this season and is currently sitting at 7-0. They welcome another undefeated this week when Franklin comes to town.
It’s always interesting to see an unranked 7-0 team, but with how many teams there are in high school football, it happens. Belleville has the talent edge here and the 7-0 Franklin record doesn’t mean it’s on the same level as the Tigers, but two 7-0 teams squaring off is always a sight to see.

No. 2 De La Salle Collegiate (6-1) at No. 19 River Rouge (5-1)
Our first of two ranked matchups this week pits De La Salle against River Rouge. This one is going to a slug fest. Two evenly matched, top-10 teams going at it. If there’s one game to watch this week, it would be this one.

No. 12 Saline (6-1) at No. 16 Dexter (7-0)
Saline suffered its first loss of the season last week at the hands of Bedford, ending a lengthy conference winning streak for the Hornets.
Saline is immediately put to the test again this week as they hit the road to face undefeated, and now ranked, Dexter. Notre Dame commit CJ Carr for Saline vs Michigan commit Cole Cabana for Dexter. This one will be good.

Romeo (4-2) at Grosse Pointe South (5-2)
13th ranked Romeo needs to go on the road and get a win this week or its record will not be meeting team expectations. It plays a tough schedule, but 4-3 certainly isn’t what Romeo wants, and it could drop them from the rankings.
Going on the road to Grosse Pointe South won’t be easy, Romeo will need its A game.

No. 23 Clarkston (5-2) at No. 18 Lapeer (7-0)
Our second rattle battle features Clarkston against Lapeer. Lapeer has looked very good en route to a perfect 7-0 start, and it’s a little bit surprising to not see them ranked higher.
Clarkston is going to have its hands full. Clarkston is ranked higher than Lapeer, but don’t be surprised at all if Lapeer takes this one.
