SBLive's Michigan high school football Week 9 Power 25 rankings

We have reached the final week of the high school football regular season. This is week nine, and we are quickly approaching the playoffs, and this is the last week that teams can make a statement.

Let’s check out some of the top games around the mitten state this week:

Wayne Memorial (0-8) @ Salem (0-8)

Let’s get this week started with the battle of the beatens. For this week I’m going with Wayne Memorial and Salem. These games get more and more interesting as the season winds down. Time is out running to pick up a win, who can end its season on a high note?

Redford Union (9-0) @ Bishop Foley (7-0)

The battle of the unbeatens certainly gets more interesting as the season winds down. With each win throughout the season, the pressure mounts more and more to get the next one. Which teams will complete a perfect season?

No. 21 Mona Shores (6-1) @ Muskegon (6-2)

Mona Shores has a tough one this week on the road against Muskegon. Sitting at No. 21 in the SBLive Power 25, a loss would almost certainly drop Mona Shores from the rankings.

As for Muskegon, 7-2 sounds a lot better than 6-3. Seven wins is tough to achieve, and Muskegon is just one win away.

Portland (7-1) @ Berrien Springs (6-1)

Portland and Berrien Springs have a battle this Friday that should be very evenly matched. Both teams have to be feeling good as the season winds down as both have only one loss, but the season can become that much more successful with one more big win over a good team.

Utica Eisenhower (6-2) @ No. 4 West Bloomfield (7-1)

West Bloomfield has lost its perfect season, but there is still so much to play for. Before the playoffs, a matchup with Utica Eisenhower looms. West Bloomfield wants to get some momentum cooking into the postseason, but Utica is hungry for the upset. This should be a fun one.

No. 9 South Christian (8-0) @ Forest Hills Eastern (6-2)

South Christian’s perfect record is certainly in jeopardy this week as it hits the road to play Forest Hills Eastern. What a win it would be for Forest Hills Eastern to take out an undefeated team as the end of the regular season looms. Forest Hills Eastern certainly has the skill to win, and it will have the home field advantage as well.

No. 18 Davison (7-1) @ No. 24 Lapeer (7-1)

This is the game I’m most excited about this week. Lapeer has been a very good team this year and stayed perfect before recently suffering its first loss and almost dropping from the Power 25.

It’ll be interesting to see the response to the loss, and what more of a matchup can you ask for than Davison at home. Perfect chance for Lapeer to get momentum down the final stretch of the season.

Gladwin (8-0) @ Standish-Sterling (7-0)

Now we’ve got three unbeaten battles to conclude this week’s top games. First we have Gladwin and Standish-Sterling. It doesn’t get more intense than this. Both teams know that one is getting one step closer to perfection and one will be heartbroken. It doesn’t get any better.

Clinton (8-0) @ No. 10 Hudson (8-0)

Same story here for Clinton and Hudson. These kinds of games are the ones where the wins feel the best and the losses feel the worst. Pressure will be high, emotions will be high, it’s going to be an exciting game.

No. 5 Rockford (8-0) @ No. 7 Caledonia (8-0)

Finally we have undoubtedly the game of the week. Both teams are 8-0. Both teams ranked in the top-10. Both teams are sitting pretty here towards the end of the season, and a win in this one will just make things sweeter for whoever comes out on top.

With both teams ranked so high already, this is the kind of win that can turn that current ranking into a No. 1 ranking. You don’t want to miss this game.
